The Reserve at Orange Lake Resort
About
There are two 18-hole championship courses and two nine-hole courses at Orange Lake Resort & Country Club. The Reserve is the newer of the championship golf courses although technically it could be considered the older of the two. Originally designed in 1982 by Joe Lee, 16 years before the Arnold Palmer-designed Legends was added, the course was completely redesigned in 2005. New water features and more sand were added and seven holes were rerouted and redesigned. One hole that was made more challenging was the fifth hole. A long par 4 was transformed into a long par 3 that plays to almost 215 yards. In addition to the four golf courses, Orange Lake also boasts a lighted driving range and putting green as well as two chipping greens, one which features a sand bunker.

The course has plenty of water but none that you can drink.
It was very hot with only 3 water stops. No cups available to fill with ice and water. Like playing on a desert. Also the course has very many wet and muddy areas and it has not rained for days.
Slowest round ever.
It was 4 of us on a Saturday morning. Greens were good but a little slow. Fairways are tight, lots of blind shots. Pace of play slow as molasses. At one point there was 5 groups backed up on number 10. It took over 5 hrs to play. Really hard to play well, stay focused, and in rhythm with 20 minute wait on each shot. I would play here again but during a summer weekday when it should be dead out.
Challenging course but greens need a little TLC
Played the course with friends, drinks cart was out of vodka after a tournament the previous day, not impressed with that, course challenging and in reasonable condition but greens could do with some attention
Challenging landing spots at times
decided to play from white tee boxes which were listed to being about the yardage we enjoy. Most were moved up this day and made the course play much shorter. Also the greens weren't in great shape, with small weeds in spots on most. Overall the experience was average' would probably play again with better greens and tee boxes to the yardage listed.
Very nice resort course
I played around noon, so not too many out due to the heat, only one group in front of me and they let me play through early on. I'm not a fan of courses that don't simply include range balls in the price and you don't know until you're at the starter. A very interesting course as it winds through the resort, some fairways are wide and some not so much so it gives you a good mix of driver off the tee or iron off the tee. I think itt was under 6900 yards from the tips, so length wasn't a problem, nice udulating greens and the maintenance crews were out keeping everything in nice shape.
The course was well presented
I am not too keen on playing so close to the houses / apartments.
You feel like your playing in someone's back garden! Most of the course was in very good condition with quite a few interesting holes with challenging approaches.
Not happy
I booked a tee time for 2, we only got to play 8 holes. We got a call with an emergency at work and need to leave. We went to the pro shop and told them I had an emergency and needed to leave. I asked them for a rain check since we only got to play 8 holes. But they said they couldn't do anything for me. I said thanks. And I will NEVER return to this course. Pretty sad that we couldn't return to finish.
Challenging is THE WORD
I played this course yesterday, its a very nice course and the people working there are very friendly. However, I wish I had inquired about it prior to making my reservation. This course is really designed for the "control golfer". It has some of the most narrow fairways I've ever played. Combined with the typical Florida water obstacles and if your a beginner or average golfer you're in trouble.
If you play this course think more along the lines of shorter more controlled shots or you're in for a long afternoon. The greens are in pretty good shape but are very fast, especially as the day heat wears on and moisture in the ground evaporates.
Very nice course that is missing a lot
Very nice, beautifully kept course. It rained the day and night before and was stopping just as we were getting started. There were a lot of soggy fairways, even in places that didn't look low. There was no beverage cart out today, which is understandable for the weather and being a weekday in the offseason, but there was not one water cooler on the course, and when we went to the clubhouse to get a couple of bottles of water, you have to get out a credit card because they don't accept cash. Also no ball washers and only one bathroom, because it is nearby at a swimming pool, not on the course. For being a resort and being a little pricier than other courses around, it really doesn't seem like they are trying to do the little things to keep you coming back.
Not sure they realy care
Two totally different nine's. I didn't think that they really cared whether you liked it or not for the money. But it is a good course that you will enjoy.
Great Course For The Price
This course was to very good condition. The greens were quick and true with quite a bit of undulation. The tee boxes and fairways were also in very good condition. While not a difficult course it does have it's challenges and is fun to play.
My only complaint was the pace of play. A 4 1/2 hour round, when starting before 8:00a, is a bit long.
Agreed it is a resort course, but I think more marshals would help the pace of play.
Surprising value.
Pro: Crazy value on very nice course layout. Better condition and experience than Ritz. Great and accurate GPS. Con: Cart person only passed 2x in 4 hours.
Loved the course
The course was beautiful plus it was a challenge. We will defineately be back to play again.
Great Course and Beautiful Scenery
The course is maintained excellently. The fairways are well manicured and the greens were phenomenal.
Excellent course - beautiful and challenging!
We played this past Friday, 30 Aug 2013, on a warm, semi-humid Florida day teeing off a little before 1000 hrs. The course was in excellent condition, especially the greens! The beautiful scenery was pleasant to behold and got some up close looks at some of it as we found the wood and water a few times! :) Overall, it as an excellent deal on GolfNow and I would ( already have) recommended the course and GolfNow to some friends.
Well designedc course
Well maintained course. Considerable hazards. Friendly, helpful staff. Will play again the next time I'm in Orlando.
Very nice course, very good value
We really enjoyed our round at the Orange Lake Reserve course. It's a short course with some challenges. Even with the aeration having benn done the previous week, it was still in excellent condition. The greens were nice and I would just like to play it again in perfect conditions. It a nice course for less experienced golfers. My 14 year old daughter played her best round ever.
The course is well maintained.
I was very disappointed on the tee time availabilities on the day I played. The last tee time I could booked was 9:56AM and the course closed as soon as the last group finished. Although I had an unlimited round of golf and range balls voucher, but this only limited me to play only one round of golf. My point to make here is Golf Caddy should be more informative in regarding to tee time restrictions on certain days of the week when posting the deal.
A good course for any style of player from the beginner to more advanced
I have always enjoyed playing at Orange Lake Country Club the people are always friendly and the course is always in good playing condition no complaints here and would recommend it any of the courses to anyone.
Tight fairways and tough greens to read and plenty of water.
My friend and I enjoyed this little gem tucked away off 192. Tight fairways and water lining a lot of the holes made for a challenging round of golf. The course was in good shape although the legends course on the same Hilton vacation property was in a little better shape. All in all I definitely recommend this course.
