The Reserve at Orange Lake Resort
About
There are two 18-hole championship courses and two nine-hole courses at Orange Lake Resort & Country Club. The Reserve is the newer of the championship golf courses although technically it could be considered the older of the two. Originally designed in 1982 by Joe Lee, 16 years before the Arnold Palmer-designed Legends was added, the course was completely redesigned in 2005. New water features and more sand were added and seven holes were rerouted and redesigned. One hole that was made more challenging was the fifth hole. A long par 4 was transformed into a long par 3 that plays to almost 215 yards. In addition to the four golf courses, Orange Lake also boasts a lighted driving range and putting green as well as two chipping greens, one which features a sand bunker.

Greens are great..... fairways were a little moist but played easy
Great value for the money . Day we played was very windy & some of the par 4’s were a challenge to get to in regulation. Ledends course was more challenging but this one had better greens.
Least favorite course we played at
When we arrived to play our first group called back to make sure that the golf tees should be set at 162 yards out for a par four. We asked the starter and his response was “ you know what I have no idea because I’ve only played this course one time and don’t remember the layout”. That set the tone for the day as we played blind shot after blind shot with no sheets or or pictures of each hole on the score card to use as a reference . No signs at the tee boxes, no OB stakes or Hazard stakes. Last but not least the beer was $36 a six pack which was the most expensive we payed all week by $10.
This course needs help.
The Reserve needs some help. We played Legends 2 years ago and really enjoyed that course so we decided to play The Reserve this year, that was a bad choice on our part. The tee markers have not been moved for weeks, the cups were easily a week or more old, and the price for adult beverages were astronomical ($36 a six pack). It's hard to explain but the pro shop, or lack there of doubles as a convenience store. I did not enjoy playing this course even though I shot my best round of the week there. The worst part of this was we paid a $3 upcharge switching from a better course (Providence) to this course. The Reserve is not worth the money in my opinion.
Golftrip
The course was in fine shape but the layout is awful and not well marked. There is no pictures of the holes anywhere and several of us had no idea where or a distance to hit it. Every hole is closely lined with condos. The clubhouse is a grocery store and beer was 36 dollars a six pack! Not a course I would go back to.
Orange Lake Resort
It was a very good day of golf. The course was in very good condition and the staff was very friendly. The policy of only using credit cards was not convenient but acceptable. All in all it was a great day of golf and an excellent value.
Far too crowded
Course layout and conditions were not bad but the pace of play was atrocious. We had to wait on every shot and on each tee, two groups were waiting. I have never experienced such slow play.
Super Slow
Great course from at least the front nine was, because that's all I saw as the speed of play was so slow I QUIT after 9 holes.
I didn't even try to get a rain check because it seemed normal to everyone else to wait for 2 groups to tee off on every hole.
I couldn't take it anymore.
It was NOT a holiday, it was in the middle of the day and it still was Super Slow.
We started at 11:32 and I left after 9 at 1'45.
When I told the cart guy why I was leavibg he looked suprised and said no had called 8n to complain and that'sc what made me didn't want a rain check...it must be normal.
The only thing I could see why it was so slow is this course must be for all retirees.
It could be that they are just spending their day playing golf and have no where to go and nothing to do.
Nothing against that at all, by God's grace I pray to get old one day, I just didn't look to do 8t on the golf course this particular dau.
Nice well maintained course
Joined with couple of old person, not much hilly, not much water hazard, enjoyed playing. Recommend to play with reasonable prices, with online discount by golfnow.com
Good value
Played on a cool sunny day little wind. The course was in good shape for January in Florida. No real pro shop, kind of funky entrance, through a store. The layout and condition of the course were good. Greens rolled fine. I would come back again
Good round
It was cool about 12 degrees. played first 6 holes by myself. Then joined two local golfers. Course was quite quiet but had a good day of golf. Then make it home to watch football playoffs. Too bad my team lost.
Joe’s Review
Course has improved a lot since the last time playing there.
Reserve
New management. Kudos to rehab efforts. Pace of play was great. Greens coming back. Fairways and bunkers in great condition. Worth the play.
1st round of 2018
Just came down from Canada and was pleasantly surprised at the good condition of the course. The over seeding seems to have taken and the course look ed great for Jan. Will be back.
