The newly renovated Claw at USF, named thus for its many doglegged fairways, offers a distinct layout that seamlessly winds through moss draped oaks and towering pines on pristine Florida preservation land. You will enjoy the fact that there are no houses crowding the fairways. Located at the University of South Florida, this manicured course is home to alligators, deer, turkeys and many other rare inhabitants. You will feel like you are playing in the heart of a nature preserve. "The Claw" is also home to the nationally ranked men's and women's USF Golf Teams. Elevated greens and new Tif-Dwarf putting surface, will test your finesse and shot making ability.

Hey Mayor This is Part of Tampa !!!!!!!
The city of Tampa and "Mayor" Castor should be embarassed to call this a golf course. The only thing she cares about is getting her manly face on tv. No grass anywhere. Greens are like concrete. What a mess !!!!!
Dried up
This course needs a billion dollar donation to save it. No clubhouse, no ice available, no building to house the falling apart golf carts, therefore they were covered in dirt/dust. Better than average port -a- potties. They are losing the only good thing they had going for it, the greens. Dusty, dry, fairways. Will not be returning to this course.
Comments
Need a lot of work. Cart not clean tee off full pf broken tees Greens in poor conditions looks like they do not want this course to stay open
Duby
I saw the reviews and they weren’t very good prior to going there. I played college golf there back in the late 1970s. I haven’t been back to the golf course since I live up north. Only paid $22 to play. The condition of the golf course was awful. I would think the university would have more pride in the golf course but apparently not.
Duby
I played college golf at USF in the late 1970s. I hadn’t been back since then but I am on vacation so I decided to go back to the course just to reminisce. I read the reviews prior to playing and they were not good. I paid $22 to play. The clubhouse was closed they just had a trailer where they had two people working. The golf course was in terrible condition but I didn’t expect much for $22. Although the layout is still very enjoyable the conditions were not good at all. I would think that the university would have more pride than to let the golf course deteriorate to it’s current condition.
This course has dropped the ball...
I have played many times at the Claw, the course just isn't what it used to be. The pro shop is non-existent, and the condition of the course is awful. When you have to move the ball on the green to avoid moon-like divots and bare patches it really kills the vibe.
Utter neglect
Do University of South Florida should be ashamed of themselves. This is one of the most beautiful golf properties I’ve ever played. There appears to be no groundskeeping at all.
Half of the tee boxes are sand and weeds. Half the greens are covered with weeds and huge sandy patches. IUn puttable!
Pro shop is a shipping container. Restroom is a fancy uhaul
Went to first tee .There we’re 8 students getting ready to tee off! All of them at the same time. No starter. I quickly went ahead of them. Got to the middle of the fairway to see eight people on the green ahead! I picked up and moved onto the second hole. Apparently large football and baseball stadiums are more important than preserving a beautiful golf course.
Better than I thought
About half of the greens need a lot of work. Fairways were the best part of the course. Tee boxes sucked but whatever I hit off tees. Finding a decent level spot to tee off was not happening. Greens were for the most part fast. Fun day, when I go back in a couple months hopefully they will have gave the course some TLC
Welcome Return
This course is always challenging. Stategy is the key to success. A few of the greens needed improvement as well as most of the tee boxes.
This course needs some work
The greens need lots of work, the fairways are poor ,and some tee box's have little to no grass on them. USF should be embarrassed there name is on that course
