#1 Knollwood Golf Club Photo submitted by kidcody on 11/30/2012
I had one of the weirdest gold round experiences ever. The pace of play was horrible. It was a golf train wreck. Very poor management of time management. It makes sense why the Staff were very irritated. I would literally ask for my money back. I think the common folk who play this course has them on lock down like a mafia. I'm not going to say what type of race is all over the course but it is really bad and the city of LA needs to look into this craziness. Horrible attitudes from the staff and players. Trying to play ahead of some groups felt like going to war. Never again.
Not bad when no one is there
Played during the week on a cold winter day with a 4some. We finished all 18 starting at 12:50pm around 4:58pm. Hole 1-15 we didn’t have to wait and let single players play through our group. The greens here are always a challenge but really fun high speed. I have played on a full day and it was so backed up it wasn’t fun. But when no one is there it is quite nice besides having so many up hill courses. I give 7/11
It was closed
We had early tee time and it was closed. We couldn’t get a golf cart and we had to walk 9 holes
Dang it, I should learn my lesson
A well designed course manicured thru houses. Fun to play. When ever you want to spend 6 hours on a course, dodging errant golf balls , waiting 20 to 30 minutes past your tee time to start. Wait for carts. Waiton every tee box then Then this is your spot. It's one thing to enjoy getting frustrated playing the game. It's another level of joy to be frustrated by the management of this course. I keep hoping one day I'll catch u good tee time and play a normal round. But nope. Not here. Not ever apparently
DO NOT PLAY HERE
As with some of the other reviews here, I will give a description of my experience. HORRIBLE. I have played here before and it runs slow on the weekends. I decided to walk as I figured we would be backed up and no benefit to a cart other than a spot to sit waiting. The price on the phone was for a 1:08 tee time and it was 45.25 with cart and when quoted from pro shop deduct 16.25 if walking. With the stupid ransom deposit, they make people put down for two of us we were given a price of $50.00 at check in WALKING> I said that's not right that comes out 70.00 for 2 to walk. They guy refused to listen, and we paid the ransom. I got fleeced; the cost should have been 45.25 x2= $90.50 then minus my ransom deposit of $20.00= 70.50. Then subtract the cart fees of 16.25x2=32.50 comes up a whopping $38 dollars. Where this guy came up with 50.50 ?? no idea. Guess that's why he works at the pro shop. Anyway, after my fleecing we went out and saw 12 carts backed up on first tee box. I thought since we were 8 min from our time our other 2-some was maybe next or second up. they were 12:12 .. ALMOST A HOUR BEHIND! Which maybe the pro shop guy should have said and offered my deposit back and leave while I had a chance. No. We got in line and waited till 1:50 to tee off. YES 1:50 on a 1:08 tee time. We were backed up the whole time. Every hole 2 deep waiting to hit. The FRONT 9 took 3 HOURS and 45 MIN!!!.
I have played slow courses on the weekend but never this. I wrote the general manager Monday morning looking to get some solution. Maybe a refund from my fleecing to at the very least get the money due correct. Maybe an apology, a replay? SOMETHING... This guy never even answered my email. I gave the person 3 days to respond and nothing. When I was talking with a golf friend, he said joking this guy gets probably 50 of those a day. What a joke... DO NOT PLAY HERE. unless you prefer standing waiting to play a 6 hour plus round of golf. HORRIBLE,
Slooooow
"Driving range closed indefinately." and you can tell it will we closed forever.
On to the two three-quarter rounds of golf in 6 hours. It started Saturday, a little chilly but otherwise a great day for golf, but after 5 1/2 hours I left on hole 16. I played again two days later on Monday, thinking it would be a little better, but I was proven to be too optimistic, as again I left on hole 16, this time after 5 3/4 hours, on a chilly windy day.
The Saturday round was 45 minutes late teeing off, so I gave it a full 4 hour and 45 minutes before I gave it up, but I knew I had another chance just two days later on Monday. Hole
#1 was a little better as the tee box was only running15 minutes late, but to my surprise that round was even slower.
Extremely poor pace of play
T times are too close at 7 minutes apart. Many holes were backed up 2-3 groups. In 5 hours of play, completed 14 hole, and that was only because groups in front started quitting.
Some things just never change….
I say this about every 2 years… I will not be back to Knollwood.. Had a 9:40am tee time on a Saturday. I sat in my cart with amazement. There were 18-24 people congregating on the first tee. Was a horrible sign of things to come. There was no starter and reminded me of a free for all..By the time an employee appeared, they were running 30 min behind, not surprised. We were waiting on every painful hole. Last putt dropped on the 18th hole 6+ hours later.. One can look at it this way, it was only $10.00/hour for being out in the beautiful sunshine. Not me, I should have stayed at home. Come on Knollwood- You can do better.. Shame on you! Save your $$ & time, play anywhere else! I want my Saturday back!!
Pace of Play
3 groups of foursome was waiting on each hole. Teeoff time was already 20 min later than supposed to teeoff time.. need to change the teeoff to 10 min or need to supervise it goes..
The worst ever
Tee time was at 1pm and only able to play until 9th hole due the management’s double booking, no time management, no course marshal and the management simply did not care. Each hole took about 30 min due to waiting. Never go Knollwood.
Avoid at all cost
Swear this is the slowest course you’ll ever find in your entire life. It’s been 2.5 hours and we’re still waiting on 2nd tee
Slooowwww
Due to the pace of play only played 9 hole and left. From the second hole to the 9th took over 3 hrs. 3 to 4 foursomes on every tee box. . Not an exaggeration. This is on a weekday.
Extra ordinary slow that day.
Played there before . Never been this slow.
Thought but fun course to play.
Conditions are very good, nice greens.
Very good course to play.
