About

Holes 18
Type Resort
Par 72
Length 6878 yards
Slope 133
Rating 74.0

The Clipper/Galleon Course at Shipyard Golf Club, which combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses on the property, creates an exciting combination of long fairways and perilous hazards. Clipper/Galleon has a rating of 74, with a slope of 133 from the championship tees.

With plenty of sand and water hazards, Clipper may be the most difficult of the nines. Designed by George Cobb and built in 1970, Clipper requires a good long game and a soft touch around the greens.

Galleon, the original nine holes, meanders through large oak and tall pines. Accurate placement of approach shots into heavily guarded greens is necessary on this nine.

Shipyard Brigantine thrills

terrific especially the greens. But the sides of the fairways were barren, and the lies were almost impossible for all but experts.

Disappointing course conditions.

There were 6+ fairways that were hard grassless dirt. There were a number of greens with work being done around the fringes (ie red flags). 11th green was ragged. Very disappointing considering the price. Look elsewhere.

Really fun course to play

Conditions were a little rough in some spots but overall it was extremely playable. Greens in excellent shape and speed was very good. Not slow and not too fast. Really enjoyed the layout .

Fairways not up to oar

Greens were great, course is great but the fairways were in poor condition, I’ve played here many times & never seen the fairways like this. Hope it was a one time problem,

Once and done

Range closed so no warmup. Fairways and tee boxes were poor - little grass and what there was in clumps. Greens nice but as hard as a ping pong table. Few pins on flat spots making even short putts seeing one foot breaks. Virtually every hole was doglegged - and with bends that hide green from tee. The repetitive doglegs made the course just not fun - not a resort course. Overpriced for the condition and the layout.

Beat up bad

Fairways are really bad with many bare areas. Turf is hard as a rock like they haven't watered it in quite some time. Greens were good but also firm and hard to hold.

Staff and practice facilities nice
