Clipper/Galleon at Shipyard Golf Club

About
The Clipper/Galleon Course at Shipyard Golf Club, which combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses on the property, creates an exciting combination of long fairways and perilous hazards. Clipper/Galleon has a rating of 74, with a slope of 133 from the championship tees.
With plenty of sand and water hazards, Clipper may be the most difficult of the nines. Designed by George Cobb and built in 1970, Clipper requires a good long game and a soft touch around the greens.
Galleon, the original nine holes, meanders through large oak and tall pines. Accurate placement of approach shots into heavily guarded greens is necessary on this nine.

First time
Great condition especially for January. Very fair layout with no tricked up island greens or “windmill” holes.
Doug from ohio
Played in January, ball sets up nice on Bermuda on grass and all fareway were reseeded in rye . All greens rolled consistently. Played in 3 /3/4 hours
Enjoyable Round
Overseeded fairways were appreciated, sand quality is consistent, greens are fast. Pace of play was on schedule, enjoyed the round and will return. Thanks.
Shipyard
Nice course… greens are very hard & tuff putting. Most of the holes had a “ridge “ around them. I think it came from removing the soil from the hole. Some putts barely rolling into the “ridge “ then rolled 10/12 past the hole. Nice fairways, carts are nice.
Fast firm greens
17 of the 18 greens were in great shape. One hole had some issues in back of the green but all were thick, smooth and much quicker than the looked. Although the greens were relatively flat, any slope had a huge bearing on the rollout. Overseeded fairways made a nice target and defined landing areas.
Greens were great
Overall course was in great shape. All staff very friendly and helpful.
The starter wasn’t very customer focused. We were a twosomes put between two foursomes when he could have joined another twosome just ahead. Foursomes ahead of us took 2.5 hours to play front nine with nobody in front of them. We left after 9 holes.
Great course
I play here once a month Always in great course, Staff are friendly, Food in club Always very good. FYI this is the 2nd time playing were No sand in sand bottles actually this time my cart had no sand bottles on in ??? I love to fill in my divots. That's what all golfers should do.
A must play
Everything was Excellent...FYI 2nd time playing here in last week's both time either no sand bottles on cart or no sand in bottles and I love to fill in my divots.
