JUST WOW

First thing I’ll say is don’t go by yourself if you’ve never played or don’t play here regularly. Second bring a box of balls not a sleeve. Third if you think you’re a decent weekend golfer like I thought I was go play this course from the back tees. It will 100% change your mind. There’s SO MANY blind tee shots and blind second shots. If you think your taking driver off all the tee boxes thing again. This course was PUNISHING BUT it brought my love back into the game. Love this course and I will without a doubt return. This is an either love your hate course depending on how you play your shots for sure but I love the course I would recommend

Beautiful and Challenging

Even as a high-handicap player, this course is a wonder to play! Having golfed at Royal County Down in Ireland, this course is very similar. I had the pleasure of meeting the Director of Instruction, Bobby, while practicing and the GM as we let them play through and they all made my round that much more enjoyable. Great Job on this wonderful course, I’ll be back soon.

Challenging Layout

The Tees, Fairways, and greens were great. The bunkers were unkept, we had to play them as ground under repair. The range was closed, the starter said they were having trouble getting range balls. Several blind tee and approach shots including a couple of the par 3's. If you have not played here before bring extra balls. A course layout on the scorecard would have helped tremendously.

Nice Course

The Tees, Fairways, and greens are in great shape. The bunkers are unkept and had to be played as ground under repair. Bring extra balls if you have not played here before, if you get out of position you will probably lose a ball. Many blind tee shots and 2 blind par 3's. It would be nice if there was a course layout on the scorecard. The range was closed on Sunday morning, the starter said they have not been able to purchase range balls.

The Beast is Back!

I've played RNK many many times in its lifetime and have seen the good and bad. I'm really happy the course is back to its former glory. The greens were fast and nearly perfect. The bunkers were washed out, but that's because there has been so much rain in the area the last few weeks. It was CPO, but the course drains so well, they may have gotten away with letting carts on the course. The fairways were nice too, but again, they couldn't cut due to the rain. I'm looking forward to playing here at least once a month.

Great golf course.

Excellent golf course. Beautifully scenic, high degree of difficulty. Fast greens with tortuous undulations. Loved the challenge, can't wait to bring my regulars.

Terrible Customer Service

Worst customer service I’ve ever had at a golf course! We had a 4:00 tee time and a guy named Bob was working in the golf shop. My buddy walked in the shop first and I followed behind. He greeted us with “shut the door behind you.” Then he said nothing else as we checked in and we talked more than he did. The next thing he said was “you swiped your card the wrong way.” Then I ran my card and asked if there were balls on the range which I figured there wasn’t and he just said no. So I put 2 buckets on my card along with the round. He then proceeds and says “pace of play out here is typically between 4 and 4 1/2 hours and says to have the cart in no later than 7:45. This rubbed me the wrong way because I knew that wasn’t possible as I’ve played here before and asked why since it’s August. He said it’ll be dark. I said well it gets dark at 9:00 and I walked out saying we’ll have it in when we can. This is out of character for me but he immediately made our encounter miserable, probably about as miserable as he is on a daily basis. Sorry Bob, but you were wrong and out of line on this one! I will say the girl taking care of the carts was overly friendly and did a great job!

Thank you for the great review. Mike Strantz and his crew observed the long lines at Six Flag parks were always at the roller coasters and not the merry-go-rounds so they set out to build the roller coasters of golf. They are a fun challenge but Strantz provides a conservative route on holes as well.

Mental Grind for 18 Holes

What a course. Every shot requires thought and strategy. Never an easy decision of what to do. If you want a mental and physical grind at the course, this is the place for you. Staff were happy to give us advice, course played fast (we barely saw other groups out there). Absolutely loved this course and cannot wait to come back and play again.

Strantz's design idol was Alister Mackenzie and Strantz put many of MacKenzie's desigm elements into his courses such as making a shot look more difficult then it really is...a good example of this, is hole 4 where the tee shot appears hard but in reality you have a 70 yards wide fairway to hit. He gives the golfer opportunities to "go for it" like on hole 2 but he also provides a conservative route like hitting left of the traps on nine to the 150 yard marker.

No Title

The course is extremely difficult if you do not hit the fairway. There are a lot of natural obstacles and not alot of rough; it is more like 2 foot tall grass or weeds. It is by far the most difficult course I have ever played and I lost a lot of golf balls. Not that losing balls is unusual for me but this course is on another level. A couple of the sand traps were pretty saturated.

The staff was very friendly though.

Greenskeeper for the WIN!

Wonderful work-golf mix today at Royal Kent. The course was in excellent condition and the conditions were hot, but normal for this time of play. One thing that this course needs - distances! It had the "normal" blue, white, and red stakes - but nothing else. There are too many blind shots to not have distances on the ground or on the cart. The price was a little steep for those kind of non-amenities. I'm glad the company was paying. If it were me, it would be a pass.
