Royal New Kent Golf Club

Great course, a challenge but fun. Good conditions, awesome staff, the starter was awesome on 5/02/2021, I think his name was Roland. Would play again anytime.

Tees: perfect, fairways: perfect, greens: better than perfect! I truly love this course and understand why the guy I played with, Joe, drove all the way from Virginia Beach just to play Royal New Kent on his 59th birthday!!!

Played the first 10 holes in 1 and 1/2 hours , play though a twosome and threeson, l am a single . I caught up with a foursome on hole 11. They did not let me play though, it took me from that time on 3 hour 15 min, for a total 4 hours 45 mins. I found out from the club house there was nobody a head them to slow them down. Club house said some people play slow and some play fast. Did not seem concerned. I am 72 year old 8 handicap, they need a time limit and tell people to play though if they are playing slow.

The staff at the course were excellent and accommodating. They got me in about 30min before my tee time. This worked well until I caught up tp three foursomes which slowed things down considerably.

The greens were in great shape. Tee boxes were dry and the fairways still growing from winter.

Very challenging course as i had not played it in over a year. Make sure your sand trap game is in good shape as there are plenty on the course

If you hit it straight and know your yardage. go for it.

Harder than slope

Amazingly challenging but fun course. Lots of moguls and blind shots. The marshal was super helpful and starts each group off at the Hole 1 tee box with great information & tips. Course was in great condition and such a beautiful setting. Highly recommend this course for experienced golfers. Might not be the best course for new golfers.

I've never seen a golf course like this one. It's very hilly, and rough abounds. A number of tee boxes are below the fairways. You can't see where you're supposed to go. Same with the greens; many are on hills, and you have no idea what's there. Middle-aged or senior women should avoid this course unless they're former pros or weight-lifters with the strength to get over the numerous hazards. Take plenty of balls because you're going to lose them! I didn't play several holes because it was clear they were going to take even more of my balls. The extremely windy conditions didn't help.

There were insufficient numbers of porta-potties, and when you found them, they had no toilet paper. The pace of play was glacial.

On the plus side, the carts were luxurious, with ball and club cleaners, bottled water, and even towels. The clubhouse is beautiful.

Greens could’ve been a little faster but rolled fine. Considering the time of year I can’t complain about a thing, glad the course upkeep is continuing

Staff was accommodating and attentive. Conditions of the course were great. A class establishment. Needs yardage books, but the tip sheet was super helpful. Thumbs up, I’ll be back for sure.

There's just something about a Mike Strantz design. So much creativity where no hole is the same as the next. So much thinking and every hole gives you a risk/reward option. However, very difficult if you aren't striking the ball well. Course was in great shape and service was fantastic. Only issue was that there was about a 40 minute wait at the turn but I think that's just a result of an outing in the morning.

Always enjoyable. The new ownership has made Mike Strantz happy for sure!

It all started with the very friendly and helpful Starter ... in fact the entire staff was outstanding. Very nice course - wouldn’t want to walk it, as it can be very long and challenging. This course hit all the major high notes you’d want to see in a golf experience.

First time playing Royal NK from the tips, not bad. A lot of room to drive, but have to knock it far. Had some great lies too a lot of fluff. Challenging against a hill though.

Tee boxes are even level so you can keep your balance, draw friendly. A lot of blind shots, but fun, 18 tricked me a little, read you scorecard! Great wildlife saw a turkey, rabbit, and I think a bear.

Par 5s are awesome and most par 3s are downhill and can knock it easy. A couple groups let me play through which was great.

What a fun golf course to play and it was in great shape for this time or year, particularly compared to courses in the area I have been playing this last week.

Interesting hole layouts, and great views.

I will definitely return to improve my score now that I have seen the course.

This is an amazing course and it is always challenging me on different types of shots! The greens are now in great shape!
