Course Highlights
Occotillo's layout consistently earns high praise, with water features on nearly every hole creating a scenic and genuinely challenging round. Friendly, welcoming staff and strong overall value make this course a compelling choice in the Phoenix area.

If you come to Arizona to play desert golf, forget about Ocotillo. Ocotillo is a refreshing change of pace from most of the Valley's courses precisely because it isn't surrounded by desert.

The White Course is the most unique of the three. It has only one par 5, and the water is a factor on just five of the holes. But it also has the best hole on the property -- the 479-yard, par-4 ninth, which used to be an easy par 5 but is now a treacherous finishing touch.

The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the

hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.

Not a great course for beginners.

Lots of water, don’t go for the hero shots, punch it back on and give yourself a chance if you are not consistently striking the ball accurately yet.

Sharp Shooter

This course is fun to play for sure especially for the way it looks in the middle of an Arizona Summer. I got a Hot Rate which made it better.

If I was to give only one suggestion would be to either GPS or provide a display of the holes. There are a lot of hidden water spots and tight lies that the players should be aware of before teeing off. Hit it down the middle on BLUE or you’re gonna lose your ball for sure.

White was a lot more player friendly for sure.

Course is in nice shape but......

Staff were very unwelcoming from start to finish. The man on the phone when we called to book a time was rude and told us to book online, the man that checked us in when we got there was crabby, the Ranger was sarcastic and rude when we asked a question and the guys that took the cart when we were done couldn’t get off their phones.

Bad Pace and OK Value for Money

So I played this course as a practice round for a Hurricane Junior Golf Tour tournament. I payed with GolfNow which saved a ton of money. For 2 people it was $5.37 down and $167 at the course including cart and $10 worth of range balls. The course was in OK shape, some bad spots here and there but overall pretty good... except the range was not very good. Staff were friendly. Restaurant food was good. But now the pace. On the front nine it was horrendous, 2hr 30 mins! But luckily, the slow people stopped for a beer so we snuck ahead of them and played the back nine in 1hr 46mins. We never saw the marshal to say anything, only for him to come out on hole 1 to ask about carts. Would recommend, but definitely book with GolfNow (not trying to advertise). GolfNow price was $79 a person meanwhile course site was $108!

On course staff were rude and greens were poor

All hole placements had a mound around the hole were the dirt and grass was pulled hard when placing new hole location.

Rangers were aggressive about course educate even though it was not a rule. Apparently you can were gym shorts based on your website but pulling out in the grass on a par three is frowned apon. . .
