Ocotillo Golf Club - White/Gold
About
If you come to Arizona to play desert golf, forget about Ocotillo. Ocotillo is a refreshing change of pace from most of the Valley's courses precisely because it isn't surrounded by desert.
The White Course is the most unique of the three. It has only one par 5, and the water is a factor on just five of the holes. But it also has the best hole on the property -- the 479-yard, par-4 ninth, which used to be an easy par 5 but is now a treacherous finishing touch.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.

Solid Local course
Course was in great shape for late summer. Over seeding is gonna start soon and this course still did not disappoint! Will be back soon.
Overall great course but WAY TOO WET.
Course was very wet in way to many locations.. I had multiple shots that landed in the fairway or just off and they were sitting in larger wet areas.
Fairways and greens were in excellent condition, which is surprising considering its summer. Real enjoyable and played in less than 4 hours.
Great staff
Greens were solid considering we are in the dead heat of AZ summers. Lots of loose grass on the fairways from lawn mowers but wasn’t too bad. Overall good time. I’d love to play again!
Pains me to give this course a bad review!
Ocotillo golf course was the course that started my desire to play this game. At that time Troon managed the course which is phenomenal anywhere they are regardless of location. When this course switched management it’s never been the same... the course conditions have plummeted.. Ocotillo WAS a course you could go to anytime of year and know it’s going to be in great shape. This is no longer the case, I wouldn’t even rank this a top tier course in the valley any longer which means pricing should follow. Course used to come with free range balls (most top tier courses do) that immediately changed however the bigger issues are not the free stuff although that’s nice and something I loved. The course simply put is nowhere near the conditions it used to be in. From tee to green it’s a mystery what your going to see now... shame as this place has always had a great rep as a top course to play in the east valley. Tanking quickly and management needs to be proactive or they will lose their avid golfers
Course conditions were terrible
This course was in the worst condition I've ever played in, and normally this course is in excellent condition. Most holes that had standing water and muddy conditions like they left the sprinklers on for several days(hasn't rained in weeks). Drives in the middle of the fairway had to be moved as they were stuck in mud. They need to shut it down while they work through this or significantly drop the price. No way should you be paying $65 for those conditions in the middle of the Arizona summer!
Bring Troon Back!
The course was one of my favorites but has gone downhill since it was taken over by OB Sports. There should be no reason for the fairways to be more dirt than grass. Another aspect of Ocotillo was the stellar customer service provided by Troon. Gone! The staff basically goes through the motions but does not go out of their way to demonstrate the type of service Ocotillo was known for. This course, in the summertime, should not be charging the price ($50) for a high end course. This is no longer a high end course. Book somewhere else.
Greens are inconsistent, but target golf with water everywhere is always fun!
No value for price
I have played this coarse pre and post pandemic. Same poor conditions. Nice club house, views of homes and water features. Coarse and amenities not worth the price, ground conditions are some the worst I have seen. Most likely will not play here again.
Course is in brutal shape. I know it’s summer , but my goodness this was poor. This was my third time there , first two were amazing. This time was brutal.
What happened
My friends and I used to play here all the time and never had any issues with conditions of course and service in grill. Something has changed and I realize its June so I will give the course condition a pass but the service and menu options in the grill are non existent. The server stood behind the bar on her phone the whole time and seemed to be ok with that. The menu consisted of a few over priced sandwiches and hot dog. I realize the management company focuses their efforts on banquets and wedding but they may as well put a self service cooler in the grill because it would provide better service and cost less on labor!
Water
Water on ever hole, Over blind hills and around blind doglegs. No course map available, not really worth playing compared to the other courses in the valley. There’s a difference between a challenging course and this ridiculous setup.
