Style Traditional

Length 7042 yards
Slope 133
Rating 72.2

The Ocotillo Golf Resort sits on 185 acres and features lush contoured fairways that flow gently amid patches of mature trees, vibrant flower beds, pretty waterfalls and numerous lakes.

The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the

hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.

Two holes stand out on the Gold: No. 5 is a 212-yard par 3 with water running down the entire left side; and No. 9 is a 468-yard par 4 with a carry over water from the tee -- water that dissects the fairway about 50 yards short of the green and water left to the green. Par there is a great score.

Ocotillo's Blue Course is a watery grave; water comes into play on eight of the nine holes. It's not overly long but there's so much water the length becomes irrelevant. The best hole may be No. 1, a 590-yard par 5. Big hitters are faced with the classic risk-reward: Do they lay-up on their second shot or try to fly a tributary that splits the fairway about 50 yards short of the green?

Can't book a specific combination of 9 courses because "they don't know" what the layout is until the day of.... can't practice for tournament round.

The practice range was closed. Not sure why the course is open to play but range is closed??

Starter had an attitude when we were teeing off, terrible start to the round.

Also, not sure why you would start the sprinkler right next to the tee box, completely soaking the carts/golf bags

Course nice, staff at bag drop smart rude

Staff at bag drop smart rude Over charged for extra cart for wives to ride with. Who the he!! charges $35.00 for an extra cart. That’s BS. Other courses charge $25.00, some charge nothing. The course was cart path first nine holes. The back nine was 90 degrees. There really wasn’t any reason for the front nine to be cart path only. There wasn’t any difference in the conditions. Again BS. Don’t play golf in Az in Oct every course is cart path only. They should reduce the rates until it is not cart path only.

Ocotillo Rocks

Ocotillo is probably the best course in the Chandler area, maybe competing only to Whirlwind but always at a better cost. Ocotillo is also very unique to Phoenix area courses in that it's very green with a lot of trees and much needed shades, as well as tons of water.

Awesome Courses

The only issues I had playing this course was the bunkers and the grass clippings.

The bunkers had rocks all through them. They also had a couple with roots exposed.

Wait at turn

The course is in good condition. Paid $95 to wait 40 minutes to play the second 9. We were the first out on White and finished in 1:45. Approached the first gold tee and nobody was on it and the ranger was not there either. There was a group in the fairway so we started to tee up and the ranger showed up and told us they were already behind on starting groups on gold and it would be a wait. He apparently does not understand the point of a 6:30 AM tee time is to finish quickly. A 4.5 hour round is not acceptable if you are first out. No apologies or accommodations. The Covid greed and price gouging continues.

Overpriced.

Good course but over priced. Doesn’t drain water well so it’s always swampy.

Ocotillo

Course was extremely wet and fairways were nothing but mud. Needs some cooler weather I guess. Very bad right in front of greens

Rough shape

The course has gone downhill in the last year. Fairways were in terrible shape. Sand traps were not maintained.

Lots of water not well kept

The course was fun to play and had a lot of character. Water was everywhere but only went in 1 time so it’s fair. But the course was not upkept at all bunkers where mud and or haven’t been groomed in a long time. Greens were not in great shape they had been recently punched so I’ll give them a break on that. But then I checked course info it said the greens were going to be don’t in august. So was disappointed they didn’t let me know. I’d play it again if conditions improve

Good Round of Golf at Ocotillo

I went with two friends with varying skill levels. The course was in good shape for summer, and pace of play was fine. Quite a bit of water on the 18 we played but you could avoid most of it if careful. Very nice bar and grill and pro shop. I have played there before and will again.

Greens were punched after we were told they weren't

I called the clubhouse prior to booking the round and asked if the greens were punched. I was told that one nine was punched but that nine was under maintenance and wasn't being played on currently. So we booked the round and payed $80+ and when we show up the back nine (blue course) greens were punched and sandy and in terrible condition.

Greens were punched when we were told they weren’t

Called the clubhouse prior to booking the round and they said the greens were not punched. He said only one of the nines were punched and that nine was not in use. We end up paying $80+ for a round and the blue course geeens we’re punched and sandy.
