SunRidge Canyon Golf Club
About
SunRidge Canyon Golf Club provides adventure amid natural terrain over 7,002 yards of par-71 golf. The golf course was laid out by the golf course architect Keith Foster, who hid the golf course in the ridges and canyons of the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, one of the last untouched bastions of the Southwestern United States.
The SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's signature hole is the 17th, and it is unique, giving golfers the option of shooting a 209-yard, par 3 over a box canyon today and then going for a 152-yard par 3 from an elevated tee tomorrow. Foster discovered the elevated-tee opportunity during a tour of the golf course while it was being constructed and added the Canyon set of tees right then. The vistas he knew golfers would get were enough to convince Foster to set up the second set of tees.
After a round of golf at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, head back to the Ridge Room, which attracts visitors and locals for the great view and Southwestern cuisine.

Mountain/desert golf day
Absolutely wonderful. The course is perfectly manicured, the greens are fast and true, the bunkers are clearly maintained, and the staff was far better than you would hope for!!!
Fun course with challenging par 3’s
This is a great course. Pace of play was a little slow due to cart path only but overall was a fun round. Some of the black tee boxes were not mowed but the rest of the course was in great shape.
Tough course, great views, elevation changes
Course was in great shape greens at about 10, but quick if you are above the hole. Tough course, play up 1 tee box from normal if its your first time here. I would definitely play it again.
Top Experience
Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. A real gem!!
Numerous interesting and enjoyable holes along with some great views, The layout can be challenging on some holes but I loved every bit of it. The GPS on the carts is a nice bonus and a must for first timers. FYI, this would be a difficult course to walk with some distance between holes and large elevation changes. Beware the deep pot bunkers.
The course was in great shape and had just opened after over-seed. Greens are a little bit slow but rolling true. They did suffer some damage due to the recent record flash floods but it only affected areas along the cart paths.
Staff were top shelf, from the checkin at the pro shop to the amazingly friendly "Larry" our starter.
The made to order sandwiches at the halfway house were unbelievable. Huge, stacked and delicious!
I played the golds and scored well so I'm sure it influenced my review a little bit but this was probably the best course I've played in the Phoenix area with about 2 dozen under my belt so far. I will return.
Sun Baked Ridge!
Troon has a nice diamond in the hills here! Greens around 9-11 stimp! Fairways nice and lush; still some thin/hard pan areas in/around the approaches, but not penal. All the bunkers are ground under repair so that was a plus today! The bunkers are getting the Scottish links make-over so when the course re-opens up in 2-3 months, the bunkers will have those famous revetments to deal with! Very nice layout! Definitely a do-over! And over, and over, and over again!
W6 sure lives up to its reputation
Indeed the back nine was much more challenging than the front, however from the right tees for us and listening to the tips like take more club, even took 4 more instead of 2 since it was not only uphill but into a significant breeze.
very enjoyable layout with enough challenges
Ausome will be back love the ice machines
Played here on 6-20-18 and what a wonderful experience from the time the cart guys greeted us to the pro shop where the pro got us off before a 4 some. The course was in very good summer shape with an excellent quick round and the nicest thing is they have ice ❄machines on the golf course how ausome comes in handy. Afterwards a quick stop in the bar with excellent and delicious quesadas and great service. Truly enjoyed the wicked 6 holes will be back for sure.
Dag Handle
First time playing this course
Great course
Challenging
More than enough information thru the GPS system with the cart for first time visitors
The course seemed in great shape
There were holes that were having minor maintenance done to various traps, tee boxes etc but they were marked out and the staff did mention it at the pro shop in any event they didn’t effect our play at all
(No I don’t work there)
But we hope to be back next time we are in fountain hills
Precision a MUST!
I generally liked Sunridge, however, i am not a fan of blind tee shots and/or layup shots. I have no problem with the course being tough, but i want to see what the challenges are and not guess at distance or club selection. You definitely need to place here several times to have a feel of what lies ahead...
Conditions, the staff and the grill were terrific so that makes for a pleasant afternoon. Scenery was spectacular as well. Ill be back, but will have a yardage book next time
Tee box selection
Tee boxes go from 4998 to 6000 yards. Need a set in between this yardage. Would be more fun to play. Otherwise like course.
Slow Slow Slow
First the website said the greens and fairways where in great shape, they lied. The pace of play was SLOW after the 13th hole we had a sixsome playing in front of us, we called the club house the head pro came out to address the situation. He did nothing he said the group had played 4 days in a row and just wanted to finish the last couple of holes together. Apparently all you need is money and Sundridge will let you do anything.
Phoenix Golf at its best
Perfect day on a perfect course. The wicked 6 wasn't quite as wicked as we thought it might be, but overall a great test for your entire game.
Highly recommended. Despite the high price point, you still receive full value.
Thank you for the review we are happy to hear the Wicked 6 didn't beat the group up too much!!
Beautiful but challenging course
This is a beautiful but challenging course, you need to use every club in the bag. The last six holes in particular were more than our foursome of middle handicappers could handle. The difference in the distances for the white tees and the green tees was top great.
This course is awesome. Just remember to look for Four peaks. Everything plays that way!
Great advice!! All putts break towards four peaks, we hope to see you back again soon!

Needs maintenance improvement!
There are several positives about Sunridge Canyon.
People were friendly. It's a good track. Carts have GPS with a recording explaining each hole. Wonderfull views. However, it is not well maintained. The grass on tees was unbelievably long. I have been playing for 55 years and have never seen worse. The greens where extremely slow. Fairways and traps were average at best.
The good news is that the issues are fixable. Get the mowers out. Tees are first impression! Even those that were mowed, were way too long.
Thank you for your feedback we will be sure to pass along the information to our Superintendent!
