SunRidge Canyon Golf Club
About
SunRidge Canyon Golf Club provides adventure amid natural terrain over 7,002 yards of par-71 golf. The golf course was laid out by the golf course architect Keith Foster, who hid the golf course in the ridges and canyons of the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, one of the last untouched bastions of the Southwestern United States.
The SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's signature hole is the 17th, and it is unique, giving golfers the option of shooting a 209-yard, par 3 over a box canyon today and then going for a 152-yard par 3 from an elevated tee tomorrow. Foster discovered the elevated-tee opportunity during a tour of the golf course while it was being constructed and added the Canyon set of tees right then. The vistas he knew golfers would get were enough to convince Foster to set up the second set of tees.
After a round of golf at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, head back to the Ridge Room, which attracts visitors and locals for the great view and Southwestern cuisine.

Beautiful hole! Photo submitted by danthomson on 09/25/2012
Great course overall
Tee boxes had been aerated but otherwise course was in great shape. Green rolled nicely. GPS is fantastic. Pace of play was slow especially on back nine as there was a five some. Did not see a ranger after the fifth hole. Final six holes are difficult
Scenic course
Received a great deal here.... Arizona summertime rate. Course was in excellent condition. At 104 degrees and high humidity, it was definitely hot.
Favorite Course
I make it a point to play as many courses as I possibly can in the Phoenix area, and this was my favorite experience, so far! Very pretty course, that has alot of bite to it. I played from the tips. Hitting good, solid, ACCURATE drives is a must. If you don't, your day will be a long one. Bunkers-a-plenty, but fairly placed. Greens are generous, with plenty of undulations. Not crazy-fast, but not slow, either.
Tough Course the First Time You Play It
Lots of hidden problem areas that aren't readily apparent to first time players. GPS instructions help, but aren't totally accurate. Course has a lot of character, but not a good course for high handicappers.
The Wicked Six are Truly Wicked
This course was beautiful. My boyfriend and I love playing true mountain courses that are very natural and true to the surroundings. This was one of the most beautiful courses I have played. Each hole was difficult in its own sense, from elevated greens that have a steep slope down, to slanting fairways, this course has it all. There are a few short par-4's that I almost drove the green (from the reds) and a few LONG par-5's that have some desert in the middle and require you to lay up. Each cart is equipped with a gps system which was incredibly handy and very useful! The last 6 holes are referred to as the wicked-six and they are definitely wicked. Long holes, sloping fairways, and blind dog-legs. I must have gone through about 2 sleeves of balls during this one round, but it was very worth it. I will definitely be playing here again.
Fun golf course
Fun course on a hot summer day. First time for me and found the course to be fair and challenging. I played the white tees and the course is very playable from these tees. Yes, the wicked six are tough holes that are up the hill and into the wind but are very manageable for mid level players and above.
Course is in great shape. Staff and cart girl were smiling and provide good service.
Highlight of day was one of our group had an ace on number 17. Good fun!
tough but fair
Had fun, very challenging. I know why they call 13-18 The wicked six.All uphill elevated greens. FUN!
This is a very nice course.....
...for good golfers! Very demanding...lots of hills...greens were a bit hard but putted nicely.
Beautiful views on most holes of the Ft. Hills scenery.
Good value, tough course
Good value, challenging track that does get hot in the dead of summer because there are not many easy holes out here and not too much shade. Still one of my favorites in the valley though and you can't beat it for under 50 bucks.
Sunridge Canyon Review
Disappointed that the greens were hard and not cut that morning. This made putting difficult as the greens were very slow. Otherwise loved the setting and vistas. If greens were in better shape, it would have been 5 star.
Great Course
The course is in good condition. Greens seem a little slower than putting green. Many difficult holes but very fair. 18 plus handicapers need to tee it forward (white tee) to enjoy the day.
A True Desert Oasis
It has beautiful elevated tee boxes which amounts for a very tough golf course as there is "The Wicked 6", which is what the final 6 holes are known for.
Sun ridge
Exellent design. Great people. Fast greens. Good bunkers
Very good course for the cost
Enjoyed playing this course and will definitely play it again in the future
Great layout
Loved the course but course knowledge needed on first time playing. Lots of elevation changes. Very enjoyable round.
Challenging, yet fun
SunRidge was interesting and challenging. The course has some dumb holes (short par 4's where you're teeing off with hybrids or long irons), but the Wicked 6 makes up for it in the end. Playing uphill and into the wind on the back 9 made for a good golf challenge. The course would probably be less fun for higher handicaps as many of the fairways slope towards bunkers and the desert, so sometimes good shots are rewarded with looking for your ball in the desert.
When we played the course was quite dry and there was hard pan in areas that there shouldn't have been, but the area had just seen a run of temperatures around 105, so everything was dry in fairness. The clubhouse is beautiful, the staff were polite and helpful, and it was worth playing. I would play again, but not often.
SunRidge has some great feature holes
The final 6 holes are quite the challenge. . but this course was fun to play and i look forward to playing again soon.
Tricky and Precise
This is definitely a course that must be played 2-3 times before getting serious about a score. There are way too many surprises even with the GPS system that need to be known to make this a fair test. The vista is great and the conditions nice but the uncertainty of what you must, need, or should do can only be a positive out-come if you play the course several times. The difficulty and the distance between green and next tee box makes the pace of play drag so expect a slow round.
Awesome Course
The course was tough and playing for first time even harder with not knowing lay up areas.
Very quiet on course which allowed us to enjoy the surroundings.
Greens fast and hard to stop ball on but fairways superb.
