SunRidge Canyon Golf Club
About
SunRidge Canyon Golf Club provides adventure amid natural terrain over 7,002 yards of par-71 golf. The golf course was laid out by the golf course architect Keith Foster, who hid the golf course in the ridges and canyons of the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, one of the last untouched bastions of the Southwestern United States.
The SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's signature hole is the 17th, and it is unique, giving golfers the option of shooting a 209-yard, par 3 over a box canyon today and then going for a 152-yard par 3 from an elevated tee tomorrow. Foster discovered the elevated-tee opportunity during a tour of the golf course while it was being constructed and added the Canyon set of tees right then. The vistas he knew golfers would get were enough to convince Foster to set up the second set of tees.
After a round of golf at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, head back to the Ridge Room, which attracts visitors and locals for the great view and Southwestern cuisine.

Greens Don't Live Up to Reputation
Enjoy the beautiful views and setting. Course is challenging with many blind tee shots (especially from forward tees). Forward tee boxes seem like an afterthought unfortunately, and play a little too short for me. I was extremely disappointed with the greens, which as of 2/2014 are dormant bermuda that have been spray painted green. They were chewed up, bumpy and too fast given their unpredictable nature. I would never choose to play here again with greens like this. I was really disappointed because the rest of the course was in good shape. I used to carry a 2 handicap, now about 10. Played in the 2001 USGA Women's Mid-Am. I have also worked in the golf business.
Great track. Frustrating greens.
Loved everything about SunRidge but the greens. Not a great experience with dormant greens, lightning fast and hard as a table top.
Would not hesitate to go back when the greens when the greens don't require green paint.
Good landing areas but desert design, too
One of my favorites; challenging but fair; great variety of holes
Excellent mountain experience
Funnest 101 I've shot. Will definitely be back. 4 stars
Beautiful course
Love the course. Long course. Lot of carry. Nice greens. Beautiful area. Great condition. Loved playing it.
Course was very difficult
This is a beautiful course, narrow fairways, lots of hazzards and just an excellant course to play on.
Great Track
Just got back from the Scottsdale area for a weekend of Golf. We played 3 tracks, in order, WhirlWind, WeKoPa, and Sun Ridge Canyon.
SunRidge was by far the best of the three, best bank for your buck. Beautiful layout and great views. It was a little tight, but kept you honest. Fairways were superb, and the greens rolled very true. Great placement of sand traps across the entire course, green side and fairways. Plenty of decisions to be made based on your distant and accuracy from tee to green.
GPS was nice, but i recommend buying the yardage book.
The pace of play was irrelevant, so i am not sure how long it took us to play. When i am golfing, i dont care about pace like others.
I put this course as a must if you are visiting the area.
Over valued
It is a average course, not well maintained. It is not worth the money that it charges you.
Need to be long and accurate
The course is challenging. You need to be accurate. On some of the holes you need to be long. Greens were in good condition. Also the bunkers were fair.
Overall, the canyon features - including going down on the first 9 and coming back "up" the second nine made this a very different course than many others in the area.
Greens
The greens are dormant grass painted green color - very inconsistent roll .
Had to play this course.
Drive past the course every day going to work, always looks in great shape, my son in law came in for a visit from Texas, he loved it, now wants to move to Az to play golf.
Stunning views and great golf
The Wicked 6 are truly wicked! The course is beautiful and the challenge is fun. There's not much rough outside the fairway and each hole has either desert or water lining both sides so you have to play smart to shoot well. Fortunately many of the holes set-up well for an iron off the tee if you like to play safe, but you can always take the risk and get a sweet reward. I had my worst score of the week on this course but I still had a great time.
Scenic golf course
A true canyon course with unbelievable elevation with great secenery.
A must play if your in Arizona.
You must keep your focus and guard up on or you can have a big score on this course.
Course not managed adequately
People were backed up the whole day so I didn't get to finish my round. I think the course could have been in better shape.
Very challenging course
Anyone who golfs in Phoenix should play this course at least once. Beautiful desert setting, quiet, and truly challenging. This course rewards straight shooting and a good short game. I have played this golf course many times and it is a day I look forward to.
Better have your "A" game to score well here.
One of the most challenging courses I have played in the Phoenix area. A real treat to play and made better by the great deal I got thru GolfNow. Put this on your list of "must play" courses. The "Wicked Six" finishng holes are just that. Par these and your are a PLAYER!
Challenging Course, Need Rangers for Pace of Play
The course was great. They needed rangers out on the course to encourage the pace of play. We had to play the last 2 holes in the dark. Our tee time was plenty early enough that we should have finished before dark.
Fun, challenging course!
Sunridge is a beautiful course with gorgeous views. Very risk/reward challenging. The course was in great, post maintenance, condition. Always fun, always a wonderful golf experience. My only issue was with cartpath only. This condition was not listed in the Golfnow tee times, and was a deciding reason for choosing Sunridge to play that day. Somewhat disappointing.
Great condition after overseeding. Wonderful staff!
I've played Sunridge Canyon a few times and find it very challenging, even from the forward tees. I'm not a big hitter, so if the regular tees are over 6000 yards, I move up. The course was in very fine condition after overseeding, and even though it was cart path only, because I recently had surgery and have a handicapped placard in my car, they allowed me to go on the fairway at 90 degrees. There are lots of forced carries which is a bit of a challenge to me (more mental than anything else), but it was still a fun course to play, especially because I got one of the "Hot deals" tee times on Golfnow.com. I highly recommend this course, but not for beginners. It's an easy place to lose lots of balls, so bring an extra sleeve or two.
