SunRidge Canyon Golf Club
About
SunRidge Canyon Golf Club provides adventure amid natural terrain over 7,002 yards of par-71 golf. The golf course was laid out by the golf course architect Keith Foster, who hid the golf course in the ridges and canyons of the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, one of the last untouched bastions of the Southwestern United States.
The SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's signature hole is the 17th, and it is unique, giving golfers the option of shooting a 209-yard, par 3 over a box canyon today and then going for a 152-yard par 3 from an elevated tee tomorrow. Foster discovered the elevated-tee opportunity during a tour of the golf course while it was being constructed and added the Canyon set of tees right then. The vistas he knew golfers would get were enough to convince Foster to set up the second set of tees.
After a round of golf at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, head back to the Ridge Room, which attracts visitors and locals for the great view and Southwestern cuisine.

Wicked 6
Staff was very friendly and helpful
GPS on golf cart with info on each hole was very unique although I didn't listen and put one in the water , missed right on 17
18 green was rough but I've seen worse
200 plus par 3 on back nine offered a real challenge a miss right is good left not so much
Overall an excellent course
The wicked 6 is just that!
Beautiful golf course in the hills above phoenix. Very difficult with many many washes to get over, which makes it harder. I played it when the sun was setting, nothing prettier than a golf course that time of the day.
Beautiful golf course
The views were magnificent, all the staff friendly and helpful. The course plays pretty tough with the desert not far from the rough, but the time to play was quite reasonable at just over 4 hours. Nice fairways and excellent greens.
Desparately in need of maintenance......!
This course could be a real winner but appears to be the victim of a very modest maintenance budget. The fairways are worn bare in many locations, the greens are worn and bumpy and the bunkers are full of small stones. The staff told us that new owners took over in 2010 and everyone was hopeful that they would initiate an upgrading program. No evidence as yet! Understand that the Canadian Professional Golf Association is holding one of their major events at SunRidge in November. As a Canadian, I can tell you that if they experience these conditions they will not be very pleased....!
SunRidge Canyon Golf
Scenic course. Tight in places. A lot of variety with holes that feature change in elevation. The final 6 holes, called the "wicked six," are tough but rewarding if you hit good shots. Hole 18 is really tough and seemingly almost impossible to get par.
This is the most beautiful course in Scottsdale/Fountain Hills area. Worth every penny
Excellent golf course. Hard, beautiful. A thinking person's course.
The Best
My favourite course in AZ or for that matter anywhere, spectacular scenery, memorable holes, challenging but fair, great pace of play, great staff
Great challenge
I played this course as a single and was off first thing in the a.m. Played two balls and completed round in under 3 hours. Pace of play is enhanced by on cart GPS that are very accurate to the pin and give verbal advice at t box on how to play the hole. This is important because being on right side of the fairway for approach is important. Course is beautiful with amazing vistas (typical of the Fountain Hills courses) and the layout is interesting, for me meaning using all the clubs in my bag. Short Par 4's and challenging par 5's. strategic lay ups required as well as putting approaches on correct tier of the green. This course is not for the high handicapper but they do have forward T's that will help.
Sun Ridge vistor from Wisconsin
I liked the course. It was challenging from the tips. I thought the greens were inconsistent, looks like they were dead in spots and painted over with a green paint. Overall it was still a good course.
SunRidge
Course was in great condition, however, played a little slow. Other then that every things else was great.
Painted, very rough greens at SunRidge
We paid good money to play a nice course with beautiful mountain views. The views were great but the course really let us down. The greens were in very rough shape and were painted a green color. I think the course has somehow has lost their greens. We were never informed of this and we feel ,because of this ,the course definitely isn't worth the price
Amazing, challenging course
Nothing but good things to say about this course. From the practice facilities to the course everything was in great condition. Its a tough course, lots of target golf, absolutely no room for error anywhere. I don't recommend this course for beginners, should be a decent golfer to play otherwise it could be a long round. Views on the course were amazing and its located in a really nice area called Fountain hills. Will definitely go back and play it again.
Greens Don't Live Up to Reputation
Enjoy the beautiful views and setting. Course is challenging with many blind tee shots (especially from forward tees). Forward tee boxes seem like an afterthought unfortunately, and play a little too short for me. I was extremely disappointed with the greens, which as of 2/2014 are dormant bermuda that have been spray painted green. They were chewed up, bumpy and too fast given their unpredictable nature. I would never choose to play here again with greens like this. I was really disappointed because the rest of the course was in good shape. I used to carry a 2 handicap, now about 10. Played in the 2001 USGA Women's Mid-Am. I have also worked in the golf business.
Great track. Frustrating greens.
Loved everything about SunRidge but the greens. Not a great experience with dormant greens, lightning fast and hard as a table top.
Would not hesitate to go back when the greens when the greens don't require green paint.
Good landing areas but desert design, too
One of my favorites; challenging but fair; great variety of holes
Excellent mountain experience
Funnest 101 I've shot. Will definitely be back. 4 stars
Beautiful course
Love the course. Long course. Lot of carry. Nice greens. Beautiful area. Great condition. Loved playing it.
Course was very difficult
This is a beautiful course, narrow fairways, lots of hazzards and just an excellant course to play on.
Great Track
Just got back from the Scottsdale area for a weekend of Golf. We played 3 tracks, in order, WhirlWind, WeKoPa, and Sun Ridge Canyon.
SunRidge was by far the best of the three, best bank for your buck. Beautiful layout and great views. It was a little tight, but kept you honest. Fairways were superb, and the greens rolled very true. Great placement of sand traps across the entire course, green side and fairways. Plenty of decisions to be made based on your distant and accuracy from tee to green.
GPS was nice, but i recommend buying the yardage book.
The pace of play was irrelevant, so i am not sure how long it took us to play. When i am golfing, i dont care about pace like others.
I put this course as a must if you are visiting the area.
Over valued
It is a average course, not well maintained. It is not worth the money that it charges you.
