Eagle Mountain Golf Club
About
Designed by Scott Miller, this course is located in the southeastern foothills of the McDowell Mountains and is an innovative departure from the “target” style courses constructed in the desert in the recent past. Its layout takes advantage of a variety of land features: rolling hills, ridgelines, lush valley and washes, with a backdrop of prominent mountain outcroppings. In many instances, long extended views into untouched desert landscapes and area landmarks, such as Camelback Mountain, will be afforded. It is a strategic design, which asks the player to make choices relative to skill level.

Great day at Eagle Mountain! Photo submitted by uOQDZ5699OQ on 09/26/2012
Eagle mountain was good..
eagle mountain course was good but it was so challenging and tough course... when i play golf it was frist time.. but all the time i got up and down. and fast greens. and i saw many trap....
although, eagle mountain is tough course if you want challenging course you must be go this course i would like nominate Eaagle mountain.... anyway it was awesome course....
Tough from the rough
Thick rough made the play challenging compared to other courses. The greens were also hard to read. Fairways had some bare spots with some ground under repair however it wasn't horrible. Just be aware that it isn't going to be a pristine fairway. The fairways are good overall and not sure how much this has changed since I played after reading a comment below mine. Everything else was great about the place and would go again. Pricing was also reasonable while other courses have started to increase for the peak season in Phoenix/Scottsdale.
Good Value
Nice value for the money. Course in good shape. Greens decent but pace of play a bit slow.
Beautiful Golf Course
Th course was in really good shape and the staff were great!
Fairways and greens did not live up to the reviews
Fairways were absolutely horrible with many areas under repair. The greens were slow and need cut. I was really looking forward to playing this course, but certainly not in line with others in the area such as We Ko Pa, Troon North, Grayhawk, and Kierland to name a few. Very disappointed and one of the worst values.
Oh how the mighty have fallen
This course used to be great. Several years ago it was pristine and a lot of fun to play. Now, The fairways are bare and most are even just dirt. The greens are so hard that you MUST land the ball short of them to get it to stay on the surface. I hit a full 9 iron into a par three and the ball hit the front of the green and bounced literally 10 feet in the air and rolled all the way over the green. When I asked the outside service about was has happened to the course one replied "that is how its been around here for awhile". This course is virtually unplayable right now.
This is a very nice course if you are up for a challenge!
If you are going to play this course be sure to bring your best game. Moderately challenging course so you have to be aware of the hazards on the course. Very friendly staff, the starter was very friendly and informative. I would recommend this course to anyone who is up for a challenge.
great course
A lot of fun, great course! The greens were in great shape and the views are fantastic.
Beautiful and forgiving course; undulations and elevation changes
Played Eagle Mtn. 8/31/13 and enjoyed every minute. Very hot/humid day, but when you hole-out for an eagle on a Par 4 from 170 yds, it's gonna be a good day. The course was a bit dry, but still soft enough to play well. Lots of green grass, just a few burnt areas on each hole. Green were in phenomenal shape for this time of year. no complaints there. Rolled very true. Cart girl was seen multiple times and cold water on every even hole. Free range balls are always a bonus. Course has plenty of elevation change, lots of undulations, and its very forgiving because 90% of the fairways are saddles. Must play.
loved the box canyon holes
The geens and fairways were all good and consistant. However the poles in the fairways were not always 150 yards out. They also don't have prisiums in thier flag sticks for my range finder to lock on, which is surprising for such a nice course and since many of the other area courses have them now.
One of my favorite local courses
My regular Thursday group likes to play Eagle Mountain if/when the green fees are not too much. The course is an excellent par 71 layout and a good challenge. We play most of the Maricopa County courses during the year inclucing the more exclusive ones during the summer when the rates are lower. For a variety of reasons Eagle Mountain is one of our favorites.
Keep it in the fairway or suffer the consequences of the very tough Bermuda rough! A great challenge!
A great test of golf. Lots of elevation changes, heavy rough, contoured greens with subtle brakes and great views of the valley. One of my favorites in Scottsdale.
Good for this time of year
The heat on AZ took its toll on parts of the course, however that was minor. Overall the fairways were very good to hit off and the greens sped up as they dried from the prior night's monsoon. Yes it rained hard the night before. The pace of play was good (no one in front of us). Play it again? ABSOLUTELY!!!
Beauty
Beautiful course but a bit challenging though. We played from the green tees measuring around 6200 yds. but the course played considerably longer than that. Absolutely no roll in the fairways or rough. Sidehill roughs are expected to roll the ball back into the middle of the fairways but if you land in there, thick grass will catch the ball and you would be faced with an extremely challenging sidehill lie. It happens on almost all Par-4s and Par-5s. Ultra fast green with no ability to hold the approach shots. There will be several 3 puts and may even get 4 putts.
Aside all that, absolutely stunning, beautiful golf course. Fairway grass could use some help though. New sod has been put in place of dry patches, but too much water everywhere.
Great track. I played it twice in one day.
The course had a great layout. The only issues were the houses on the course were very close to the cart path. I imagine the house are hit frequently.
I would play again given the chance.
great!
very nice course. me and a buddy played on a monday and the back 9 was closed. it was actually kinda fun playing the front twice. the fairways and greens were in great shape. a few elevated tee's makes it fun and the views are awesome. will definitely be back.
This is a pretty tough golf course that is kept in good shape.
The course is known for it's thick grasses, challenging rough and endless hills, dales and other assorted uneven lies. It does have some very pretty views of the surrounding mountains and the valley. Most of the course is situated inside of a canyon in one the nicest parcels in Fountain Hills. I HIGHLY suggest you do yourself a favor the first time you play it, and move up a set of tees. The course plays longer than the card and is very unforgiving to the errant shot. That being said, it is a track I personally like a lot because it is such a challenge. Even in the heat of summer, this course is usually in great shape. They did pick up a little burn out in the fairways this year, however they immediately hit them with new sod, So take a drop out of the GUR and good luck putting those greens. The breaks are pretty tough to read and the speed can vary a bit more than you realize. The greens are pretty grainy. This particular outing was a 4.5 hour round. Due in full to the fact that there was a shotgun full of weekend hackers. The starter was young and inexperienced. He made a critical mistake of starting a bunch of twosomes instead of grouping them, which really slowed it down out there. Head pro to the rescue on that one, by giving us a raincheck that is good for another round. 4 stars for customer seervice on that.
Great layout
Had to play the back 9 twice due to maintenance on the front side. Really enjoyed the layout and the only downside was that I was disappointed to not be able to play the front. No regrets and that was probably the only thing from getting a 5 star rating.
