Kokopelli Golf Course

Course was great. Staff needs to clean bathrooms on course more often - once a week is not enough. Ladies bathroom in clubhouse also did not have toilet paper.

Do not play here unless you want to play a 5 hour round. No ranger on site to move the pace along. Seems everyone is playing at their own pace without consideration of other. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone who goes out to actually enjoy the game of golf. This course is for beginners or people going out for a good time, not to play golf.

I haven't played Kokopelli in several years due to it being too unforgiving at my skill level.

I've improved a bit and thought I'd give it another go. Course is looking pretty good, better than I remember (say about 4 years ago-ish?). I still have a tendency to find myself in trouble, but still in play, so I was hitting from the dirt on a few holes, but the fairway and green quality was great! The info card said round time of 4:30 was about spot on - in fact we were playing a little faster, but we ran out of daylight about 5:25 and with a 2:01 Tee time, we couldn't finish. It is a real bummer when the twilight rate doesn't kick in until there is no way to finish your round. The course is decent, it was in good shape - especially if you consistently find the fairway and the greens were nice. I'll play again!

The course conditions have improved. But the pace of play was extremely slow. Tee off at 12:22 and made it in just before dark.

Good round of golf. Reasonable, pleasant staff. Course in fairly good shape. Need distance markers on course. Need ball washers.

First time playing Kokopelli and I was pleased with the course layout and the difficulty of the course. Not a lot of crazy water hazards but it does wind through a neighborhood. Couple of the pins were in really challenging pin locations but it was sprinkled throughout the course which quickly can humble a golfer.

Course was very muddy and really really wet, everything, shoes, clubs, bags had to be thoroughly washed after.

Cart staff at the pro shop/start was nonexistent, no one out to set up the carts or offload the carts at the end of the round, cart girl was friendly and around regularly.

All the holes and landscaping that is viewable from public streets look like a beautifully manicured golf course should look; but once you hit the back side there’s standing water, little ponds inside traps and bunkers(if that’s what the dirt holes are supposed to be), large swaths of dirt meandering through the fairways. And yet, there were large mud holes you could tell were once filled with water to provide a legitimate hazard. Maybe a little investment into some quality golf course maintenance and a landscaping company specializing in golf courses for the future?

It’s a challenging layout for AZ courses and even with a frost delay we were able to finish putting on 18 as the sun was setting.

The start to the day was a mess of chaos and confusion. Frost delay was one thing but then the starter just seemed to be completely lost. In the end he put us out as a group of 5! Bizarre and frustrating. Slow play all around... even with 5 we were waiting. Course has reasonably good layout. Greens a little firm but rolling ok. Fairways brown in spots but possible to keep it on the grass. Fair price. 17 holes in 4+ hrs.

This was my first time playing the course and I would go back again but you should avoid playing on days when there is a frost delay.

Yesterday, there was a 1-hour delay but we had a 12.40 tee time and were told they would be caught up. Unfortunately, they tried too hard and so we went out 15 min early yet had to wait on shot after shot after shot as they pushed people out too fast.

We only managed 16 holes in 5+ hours.

Course condition was good, although frequent standing water in bunkers and at the side of the fairways. Greens condition was also good although not great.

The course was not maintained well at all from the tee box and the fairway. The greens are ok but uneven but the cart path is good.

Didn’t get a refund after it was cancelled in the rain.

Chaotic start. No carts were available and pace of play ridiculous. Stopped at 11 because we were waiting 10-15 minutes on average per hole. Areas around fairways were in a terrible state while greens were in à sorry stat.

It has been a few years since playing Kokopelli as I have been put off by the terrible reviews. However, I decided to try again as recent reviews were positive. I was pleasantly surprised as the fairways were lush, greens excellent, plenty of good sand in the traps, and tee boxes good. Staff was friendly. The only real issue is all the dirt on both sides of the fairways. However, you have to treat it as if you were playing a desert course and the fairways were lined with desert where you typically lose your ball. At least with this dirt, you can find and hit your ball. I always loved the layout of this course, and the undulating greens are difficult. I'll be back.
