The Wigwam Resort possesses three 18-hole courses, the Blue Course, the Red Course, and the Gold Course. All three courses were built on a rolling terrain with mature creeks sprinkled throughout and meandering creeks running through, which can all affect shots. The Blue Course is the shortest of the three courses but Blue plays long due to the elevated greens. The creeks create water hazards that come into play on several holes and there are also many strategically placed sand bunkers throughout the course as well. The Wigwam Resort facility has various practice facilities including a chipping area and putting green.

Great Round

We enjoyed this course very much. It was in great shape. Bunkers are some of the best we have played while on vacation this month. Pace of play was very good played in 3 and a half hours. Going back to play again today.

Slow

As this is a golf resort guests get what they want in this case 7 back to back tee times. The final 4 were brutal with the pace of play. They do have a guy driving around the course but not once did he address this issue. If you don't mind a 5 hr round a must play.

Opposing fairways not all that desirable, a little confusing which Way to go to find the next hole. Not clearly marked because I'm using different names for the course. Better to use a yellow ball because are so many white practice balls i'm certain holes.

Pairings

The only complaint I have about this course is the way they pair you up. They don't take into account your age or skill level when they pair you up. I got stuck with 3 hot shots that were under par and difficult to relax and play with. The staff needs to take age into account on these things.

Good day on the course.

Large driving range and they provide the balls, which is appreciated. Rangers were helpful, telling me where the next tee box and fairway was (when I hit to the wrong fairway). There are three courses so you have to follow the signs carefully. Greens were very fast. Overall round was fun. Staff very helpful.

Wigwam Choices

Wigwam has three choices.

All three are traditional layouts.

Red(Heritage) is my fav. The right amount of difficulty and reasonable layout.

Gold is the most difficult.

Blue (Patriot) was today's play. Funky layout of 34/36=70 Yardage is 3,250 & 2,750 from tips. This is a shorter course w/difficulty in the approaches and potential penalties. Front tees are 4,500 yds.

Big resort amenities available afterwards.

Patriot course

Course is in excellent shape from tee to green except the greens are concrete and will not accept an approach shot into them. this is despite playing the new TM ball that is supposed to stop on a dime. Not on these greens. Remodel of bunkers is also a welcome site and are PGA tour quality. Got a hot deal on Golf Now but likely will not play this course again this year. Gold course is in great shape as well and with summer approaching deals will be available for it.

Good course but...

This is very much a resort course and a great warm up course if you're hopping around in Phoenix. The fairways were green and the cuts between the fringe and green were clean. The greens rolled very well however the tees, at times, were uneven. The staff seemed to be easily bothered and unwilling to help those new to the course. Would play again but would like to see a more friendly staff team.

Great course but not a normal course

If you are looking for a normal par 72 course with a mix of holes this is not your course. The first 6 holes go par 5 par 3 par 5 par 3 par 5 part 3 it's a little odd but a fun track none the less. I would like to play it again as there was no map on the back of the score care and none on the hole markers at the tee boxes so you had no idea where you are going. The 150 yard markers were tough to find at times. So figuring out how far out you are was a challenge at times.

Overall the staff was amazing, the course was in great shape the price was good for a cheaper afternoon tee time. Just a few quirks that made it a little less then a fantastic day at the course. I would recommend it but if you have a GPS golf app use it to help you navigate the course.

Great course!

Came to Phoenix to play golf and this one was recommended by family. Great recommendation! Was the course difficult? No but there are some holes with challenging bunker placements bordering the front of the greens. Overall the fairways were in great shape. The greens are small and really fast. My only complaint is pin placement...a few were placed literally two feet from the edge. This along with the speed and size of greens made it a bit frustrating. Overall a great experience.

Expected more

The course is in excellent shape. Fairways were lush and greens were good. The terrain is flat and I expected more in elevation changes. I received a Hot Deal on the price and I feel I got a good deal with this price. Regular pricing is high for what you get.

Thursday at the Patriot

We played the Patriot for the first time on Tuesday so this was our second game. Tuesday starter Joe recommended that I play the same tees as my wife. Great advice.

The course is fair but challenging, the greens are in great shape but extremely difficult hole locations. Some are difficult to hold with good approach shots. Perhaps less shaving of the runoff areas would make it fairer.

Because hardly anyone was one the Patriot, the pass of play was wonderful. No one in front of us and no one behind us. We could have played under three hours. This was different than on Tuesday when we were held up the entire back nine.

We would certainly play it again.

Wonderful resort course

Just a great time for my wife and I. Course in great condition, greens were quick but not hard to putt or gauge speed. Not too difficult, fairly wide fairways, good size greens (a couple small ones), not too many forced carries for lesser skilled golfers; nice for first round of the year after a winter layoff. I played the Patriot course from black (back) tees, 6000 yds. A little short, a number of 310-330yd par 4's, then they bite you with a 464yd par 4 18th. Very nice patio at Red's for post-round dinner. (see pic). Will definitely stay here on our next trip.
