Wigwam Resort - Red Course
About
The Red Course (formerly known as Heritage Course) at the Wigwam Resort, which has received acclaim from Golf Magazine, is one of three 18-hole courses at the resort. Built on rolling terrain, the course features elevation changes that can affect shots. Mature trees are also scattered throughout to add beauty and another challenging element. Winding creeks form water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The Red Course is popular among locals familiar with the Wigwam Resort because it is considered to have the three best finishing holes in the area. Although walking is allowed on the other two courses, carts are required on the Red Course.

Our Tee time was at 7.37 and we had no one holding us up. The course has a nice layout, in great condition with some pretty challenging holes . I would play it again
Great value and nice layout
The Heritage course is a fun layout with mature tree lined fairways. Some holes are easy with some challenging ones. The fairways were perfect but the greens werent consistent. Some greens were awesome and some bumpy. The sand traps need work like has been done on the gold and patriot courses. We waited on every shot and it felt like it took forever to play, but actually only took 4 hours. Back nine was much faster. Overall really nice course!!
One of my favs
I'd play here more often if I didn't have to cross thru downtown Phoenix traffic. So I time it out to avoid the crush or play on the weekends.
Course is always in good shape. The difficulty is reasonable. The fairways are generally generous. Greens are a good quick.
The other Wigwam courses are decent, but the Blue is short and tricked up. The Gold is long and tough.
Good course for beginners
Greens were not in great shape. Too fast for the layout. This is not a good course for anyone under a 12 handicap. I would say it's best suited for beginners to moderate players
Great course
Love this course. I play the Patriot course quite often so this was a nice change-up. It's more difficult but not too. Beautiful homes surrounding the course. The staff was great!
Great shape
The course was in excellent shape!! Greens were superb and fast! Staff was friendly and informative! Only draw back - it is long for ladies from the forward tees!
Good course, good value for the money
The Wigwam has three courses....the Gold which is a ridiculously penal layout for anything but single digit handicappers....the Patriot which is just a poor layout....and the Heritage which is a fun, interesting design that is currently in about the best condition I've ever seen it. Twilight rates make it a great value. I have only one quibble: put some sand in the bunkers! Most bunkers have less than an inch of sand on a base of hard pan. That simply isn't fair and could be easily remedied.
Well maintained golf course, greens are fast and true, ball holds its line. Situated in a nice neighbourhood.
Played Heritage (Red)
Nice -- other than bunkers, some of which were in terrible condition.
Average course
The greens were in rough shape. Sparse grass and very firm. Pace of play was about 4 hours, but our foursome was constantly waiting for the foursome in front of us when no other foursome were anywhere within 3-4 holes of us. If there was a ranger maybe could've sped them up or suggested to let us play through.
Winter golfing fun
The weather was a little overcast, but that is not in anyone's hand, but God. Otherwise, we had a great time and were paired with a very nice young man. All the employees were helpful and friendly.
Good track
Wigwam Heritage course is a challenging layout with a couple long par 5s and a couple short par 5s for some birdie/eagle opportunitues. The par 4s are generally very good holes if youbdrive it straight you will have good chances. The greens are a little skinny from the overseed this year but are mice if you like a firm challenging green.
If you want a tougher challenge try Wigwam Gold. If you are a beginner or novixe stay on the Patriot course.
Jeff
great course
Course played long. greens were very hard, and the ball would roll through the green. Even from a close pitch. Greens were extremely fast. I would play the course again
Course to Ourselves
We were able to upgrade our tee time due to cooler weather and the possibility of showers. The clubhouse people didn't charge us the greater price for moving us up either. That was appreciated as was the informative course marshall. The fairways on the course were in great shape. The front nine greens are spotty, but rolled pretty true. The back nine greens were better. Both rolled fast. The fairways were wide so it made it easier to stay in the lush green grass. Most holes are pretty straight forward, but #18 is a challenge. It is a quick left dogleg with water left and right. I used a 3 wood off the tee. We enjoyed our day on the course and look forward to the Wigwam courses, snacks (good hot dogs), and hospitality.
Friendly layout
Course was in poor shape but layout was nice and staff were nice and accommodating not an overly exciting course. Play the golf course for a real treat!
Best in West Valley
I play one of the three Wigwam courses at least once a month. I love the fact that I can go to one location and select from three different golf courses.
Course is challenge depends on your course selection. I love that. Great restaurant and great staff.
Heritage course has beautiful homes surrounding the entire course.
First time
Nice old style course. Very open layout but with a bit of water. Condition appeared a bit off but actually in pretty good shape. Greens rolled nicely. Peace a bit slow but moved along nicely. Outside staff friendly & helpful. Probably not the course for low handicappers; even from the back tees short by today's standards. I'd certainly play it, as well as the other 18s again. I'm 70 & a 7 hdcp.
Fun course to play.
This course offers all the challenges one could look for to be humble. Greens are fast and undulating and would frustrate the best of putters. Nevertheless I would play it again.
