Wigwam Resort - Red Course
About
The Red Course (formerly known as Heritage Course) at the Wigwam Resort, which has received acclaim from Golf Magazine, is one of three 18-hole courses at the resort. Built on rolling terrain, the course features elevation changes that can affect shots. Mature trees are also scattered throughout to add beauty and another challenging element. Winding creeks form water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The Red Course is popular among locals familiar with the Wigwam Resort because it is considered to have the three best finishing holes in the area. Although walking is allowed on the other two courses, carts are required on the Red Course.

A visitor's welcome.
I was fortunate enough to be grouped with a club champ match between Ken and Don. We all enjoyed a superb day and both hosts were tremendously open to have me witness their match. I could not have asked for better playing companions and to see a great battle for the rights of victory. Thanks for local knowledge, history and yes the beer.
Best and long healthy wishes to you both and the fine Heritage/Wigwam course/community.

Grand Olde Course
The links at the Biltmore is a lovely course, not too long, with an intimate ambiance created by nested or winding fairways.
It is well supported with amenities.
Course needs work
Greens were very inconsistent, some of which was probably due to recent overseeding. Bunkers were the worst I've ever seen. Not a speck of sand in any I saw. Luckily they weren't deep so it was just a matter of chipping off a tight lie. Nice course layout though, and friendly staff.
Good value,
extremely quick round, course was in overseeding stages so slow greens but long play game normal.
Got done in 3 hrs or less.
slow play on a hot day
they had a group with 5 players in front of us. it was so hot and the group was really slow, we left after the 10th hole. when we complained we got a sorry. First and last time I'll go there. The greens were good, the rest of the course was like a cow field with palm trees lining both sides. Sand traps should be called dirt traps, because their was clearly no sand in them.
Great experience. Will play again.
First time playing the Heritage Course at the Wigwam and it was a great experience. Everything from the facility to the pace of play to the helpfulness of the staff was great.
Played with two other regular golfers and one first timer. We let the starter know we had a rookie with us and he encouraged us to take our time and play at our own pace as there were no other groups behind us. We played a very slow round, but only on account of our own doing. Allowed us a chance to teach our rookie about the game and no pressure to speed up or let others pass.
Course was in as good of a condition as you can expect for late May. Only complaint would be the bunkers. Very hard ground in the bunkers I experienced; no chance to dig a club and make any kind of accurate shot out of them. Other than that, was happy with the course condition. Greens were excellent.
The Wigwam is truly a professional resort.
The staff really made my visit special. The beautiful surroundings made me feel like I was in a different state. I didn't want the day to end. Thank you very much.
Course in poor condition
I felt that the course was in bad shape and would not recommend it to anyone.
Heritage
Overall course was in good shape. Bunkers were a little thin on sand and greens were hard . Greens ran good though. Overall good shape. Will definitely play there again. Thanks wigwam. Food was good after round and the beverages were cold.
Thanks
Upon arriving our teetime reservation via Golfnow wasn't logged. Fortunately pro shop staff was very accomodating and even bettered golnow's price. Unfortunately we were behind some women's tournament and it was almost a 5 hour round. Unfortunate because the previous 2 times playing there it was little more than 3 hours.
Sand traps poor condition need sand and ranking. Greens need water. Fairways good shape.
Good Round
On this day the Wigwam had a HUGE tournament and handled it very well. There was nothing available on any of their courses until after 2 p.m. and they had things ready on time. It was pretty impressive. Plus they paired me up with a gentleman about my age so it was a nice round.
Fun track
Nice course. Greens, bunkers and fairways were very nice. not very long and what you see is what you get. Next time I will play the Gold course as I hear that's the side to play if you want a challenge.
A little rough off the fairway
Very few other players on the course which was nice. Probably just the day and time. Fairways were great and every lie was super for the next shot. Wide fairways and large greens which was good for me. Nice choice of tee locations. Staff was friendly. Practice area was close and plenty of balls to use. Great practice green for putting. I will play Heritage again over Patriot. Haven't played Gold. Probably because it is a little out of my price range. Thanks for a fun day!
Hole locations
Whoever is selecting hole locations is not a golfer. I was a national (Canada) certified rules official and I would never have selected many of the hole locations that our group encountered on this course. I also had many unfair hole locations on the Patriot course. If you drop a ball next to the hole, the ball should not roll off the green.
Wigwam Resort should not be taking the fun out of golf by using terrible hole locations.
A resort course friendliness
Facility layout is good. The proshop has lots of variety at reasonable price. Staff is friendly and helpful. The course layout is simple and playable with very few surprises for first time golfers. Condition of the course is 4/5 (bunkers need more sand). Overall an enjoyable experience.
