Longbow Golf Club
About
The Longbow Golf Club offers 18 holes of par-71 golf that measures 7,050 yards from the Black tees.
A round of golf at the Longbow Golf Club kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 451 yards from the tips. The back nine kicks off on the monstrous 10th hole, a par 5 that comes in at 626 yards from the tips. The round of golf ends up a bit easier, with only 474 yards separating the tips tee from the hole, a distance that the golf club recommends golfers clear in four strokes.
Longbow Golf Club offers SoloRider golf carts, allowing golfers with disabilities the chance to get around the golf course, as the carts are able to drive right on the greens without causing any damage.

Red Mountain overlooking Longbow Photo submitted by Rick7542173 on 08/15/2013
In pretty good shape for the time of year
Very playable, the bunkers are mostly dirt though.
Tees, fairways, greens in decent shape.
Staff is great.
Good Playing Conditions
Course over-all was in generally good shape, particularly with it being 110+ degrees in the AZ heat. Fairways were very playable, while greens were true and fast. Sand traps (and there are quite a few) could use more sand. As a single, played through one foursome and completed the round in just 2 hours and 50 minutes. Definitely a challenge from the champion tees and worth checking out ASAP..
receptive greens
When I played there before, it was next to impossible to get a ball to stop on the greens. This time the greens were a little slower and it made the course a lot more fun. The staff was friendly and they were great about separate carts. This is so important to me during the pandemic. Love golf, don’t want to die for it.
North Mesa Surprise
My son enjoyed our first round at Long Bow and look forward to playing it again. Greens were fast and fair
maintenance crews
I would have given this course a higher rating if not for the maintenance crews. Twice they were parked in front of the greens with their carts. They would turn and look at me and completely ignore me. I realize that you must get some work done, but I'd think you'd let the golfers through. Nope. Maybe some people would just fire a shot up near them, but I don't want to hit anyone. Having to stop and wait for an undetermined time really breaks up your rhythm. Eventually they would finish up and leave so I could continue on. This happened several times.
Otherwise the course is in decent shape for summer. A little thin is some places which happens this time of year. Greens look like they have recently recovered from aeration. Fast, but good shape. Sand traps are just traps. A thin layer of dirt and very little sand. Played from the "Green" 5-9 Handicap tees. Shot 75.
Not Troon Like
With Covid changes they needed more people working. I had to go to the hut where a few workers were stationed to request anything or ask questions.
The course was is poor shape for a Troon course. Greens were damaged and not kept up properly. Sand traps had no sand in them and felt like I was playing a city course. My cart died on hole 14, just stopped working abruptly. Had to ride with another guy which wasn’t something I wanted to do with Covid. Overall, didn’t feel like a Troon course
Great Father’s Day
I went out for a mid morning round in the really hot 106 degree Arizona sun. I was paired with 3 others and we were given 3 carts total to accommodate the COVID 19 regulations. The course supplied water bottles with ice in the coolers, the ranger had water, the beverage cart, and the cart barn all had water bottles as well.
The course was in typical Arizona summer conditions but better than other courses I had played recently in the area. Great pace of play and overall a great experience.
Rock hard bunkers
Could not get a club under the ball. Skulled the ball every time. I’m not a great bunker player on a good day, but the bunkers here were unplayable. Sand needs to raked and loosened up much better.
Finally
Not much rough to the sides of these fairly wide fairways. Once off fairway, you’ll find a playable shots about 50% of the time. Double bogey lurks around every corner but good tee shots on many par 4s can get you into wedge territory. Greens are often thin, long and undulating, making approach shots as important as tee shots if not more. This goes on for 18 holes. Enjoy, I did this, time anyways :)
Great day on a great course
Was greeted by a staff member that got my clubs set up on my own cart and ready for the round. The pro shop was just as friendly which has been missing from other local courses, good job to Longbow. Tee boxes and fairways were perfect for the time of year. Greens were firm but slower than expected. Some local knowledge is helpful but not needed as the trouble on the course is in front of you to avoid or challenge when able. Play here for a fair challenging round.
Its Ok
Range grass was dead. Many dead spots in fairways and near greens. Greens rolled fair, but had many rough spots. Overall not worth the current rate.

Changeover
Excellent course in "tweener" shape right now due to scalping for the summer grass to come in, thus the cheaper rate. Still had a fine time and the conditions are not bad, they are just less than great. Through heat and dry conditions the ball was travelling real well. Couple of bunkers that I was in were rock hard.
Tough course, bad staff
Staff rushed us on hole 3 out of the blue...nobody at the tee box behind us and party ahead was on still on the green when we were waiting to tee off..old man came over bothering us saying we are behind pace and aren’t good enough to play here. Saw us taking practice shots and accused us of whiffing and singled us out for not being professional players..staff didn’t care and we were still bothered during the round..impossible to find the ball if it doesn’t land on fairway and staff needs to chill out if amateurs are playing and not driving 350 to the green every time. Sand traps are hard as concrete and greens are dry . Tough day for +200$. I would not recommend or go back, plenty of courses to spend 200$ and get the good treatment
