About
Golden Hills Golf Club (formerly known as Arizona Golf Resort) is home to a golf school and a challenging 18-hole course. The golf course is known for its difficult and scenic par-3 holes. It is has a traditional layout that features large, subtly sloped greens that are guarded by bunkers. Stately cottonwood and eucalyptus trees line the generous fairways. Lakes form water hazards that come into play on five holes and there is also native rough throughout the course. With four sets of tee boxes, the course offers a suitable challenge for players of all skill levels. In addition to the course and the school, the Golden Hills Golf Club has a putting green and chipping area as well.

Decent track to play
Even though we had to wait on almost every tee for the group ahead of us, it still only took 3 hours & 50 minutes to play.

First time playing the Arizona Resort Golf Course
Overall, for the money ($30 hot deal) it wasn’t a bad value, but the course wasn’t in great shape. Lots of dirt throughout fairways. The layout is not the friendliest if you don’t keep it straight off the tee as there are houses that line a good majority of the fairways. Many of the par 3s were close to 200yds plus and it was windy so that made those very challenging. Greens were pretty slow. The pace of play was pretty solid as we finished in about 3 1/2 hours. Staff was friendly.

Friendly Staff and Challenging Course
Everyone was super friendly, including Hector. I got out early, played quickly, and had fun. The greens are in good shape. The bunkers have good sand and are well maintained. Good value.

Arizona Golf Resort
We were only a twosome so play seemed slow following a foursome but the foursome in front of them were really slow. The round was over 4.5 hrs. The course was in pretty good shape except for a couple of fairways but all the green were fine. The best thing was the price, $40 through Tee Off.

In Transition
Staff in the clubhouse was great. Greens were pretty good, however fairways in need of TLC. Tee boxes okay, but many uneven and hard. Sandtraps were surprisingly some of the best in the East Valley. Considering I used a few promo codes and only paid $15 it was a fair price.

Some of the best maintained sand in the traps (rarely bottom out from lack of sand). Generous fairways with the ability to recover from an errant tee shot. Greens all seemed fairly consistent.

You get what you pay for
We booked this course last minute for a good price, but you get what you pay for. Staff were rude and somewhat disorganized. Starter was yelling for the next group, but they were waiting for a cart. About 8 of us were waiting for carts to come in. Play was slow, the marshal just seemed to drive around, not filling gaps. Some of the course was in nice shape, other parts either flooded with smelly water or completely dead.
