The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Beware after overseeding

We played yesterday and were infrormed when we arrived and paid that it was cart path only and that they had overseeded the rough and it was quite long. An understatement. We spent way too much time looking for our balls just barely into the 6 inch plus rough. Several we never found even though we had a good idea where they were. Took us over 5 hours to play and it made the course unusually tough.

Great Track

The overseeding was almost completed, so it was cart path only. Long course to walk (with a cart).

I would definitely play again soon.

Very "ROUGH"

The rough was ridiculous. I expect it had never been cut since re-seeding. It was probably 5-8 inches deep on every hole and everywhere. I do not know how many balls our 4-some lost in the rough, but along with cart-path-pnly it made for a long afternoon of walking and searching. If that is Pete Dye's idea of course design, he can take that course and shove it. The course should not have re-opened until the rough was cut. The slope rating from the blue tees (6034 yards) is normally 134!!!. With that rough it played like 175.

Never Playing Again

I've played Red Mountain Ranch a couple times in the past, and it has always been a challenging Pete Dye course in pretty good shape.

This round was the first round I've played in a long time where I left the course genuinely disliking golf, and it wasn't because of the layout. Fairways were in terrible shape (dirt and no grass in most places), around the green was the same and borderline impossible to chip, the "sand traps" either had nothing in them or gravel (the cart path was softer) to the point where we all agreed to give each other free relief, and the pace of play was absolutely atrocious. They must've jam packed as many tee times as they could before over seeding because our tee time started 15 minutes behind schedule, and by the 6th hole we were waiting 15-20 minutes at each tee box. Easily a 5.5 hour round at one of the most poorly maintained courses I've ever seen. Wasn't worth $20, let alone the $60 I paid.

Never coming back and do not golf here.

Avoid This Course

Course conditions awful, bare spots everywhere, greens not cut - super slow, overall low value, reminded me of a mini course. Had to negotiate to get service at bar. I WILL NEVER BE BACK.

Red mtn

The fairways and the greens were in above average conditions for the summer time and was well-kept up. The layout was very good and kept you on your toes from hole to hole. I would definitely recommend playing here while the summer rates are available.
