Superstition Springs Golf Club
About
The East Valley's Superstition Springs Golf Club offers one of Arizona's most testing layouts, measuring over 7,000 yards, with a slope rating of 130. Golf course architect Greg H. Nash designed the course and worked with the landscape already in place to provide the abundant mounding, wide bunkers and good-looking but tough-playing water features.
By the time he had finished with the Superstition Springs Golf Club, Nash had created a golf course that Golfweek called one of America's Best Golf Courses.
After - or before - a round of golf at the Superstition Springs Golf Club, hit up the restaurant for breakfast, lunch or drinks either inside or on the patio, which overlooks the golf course's signature hole, the ninth.

$60 is absolute joke for course under repair
I've lived within a couple miles of this course for nearly 10 years and trusted my instincts not to play here...got invited to join and did it for the camaraderie and not to be difficult, but it was an absolute joke. There is zero mention on their website or social media of all the maintenance issues on the course. Several holes with tee boxes that are completely under repair, so they use temporary tee boxes. One of the greens had GIR flags on the green within 10 feet of the hole location. All the bunkers were a disaster, we just played them as GIR and took relief out of them. It's a goofy target golf layout with many holes requiring less than driver off the tee and there are no layout signs on the hole, no GPS in cart, and no hole layouts on the scorecard. The greens were also slow and bumpy, which honestly, if the course is not in great shape but the greens rolled well I wouldn't say anything, but that was definitely not the case. Their website says "private club experience open to the public" and if that's how they're labeling it they would be by far the worst private club in the world. Charging $60 for this is an absolute joke and I will never be back, nor will I ever recommend anyone to go there. Like I said, I trusted my instincts not to book a time there for nearly 10 years and I was right. Full disclosure I'm a roughly 2 handicap and have played public golf courses around the world...this is the first review I've written...and I've played some terrible courses. If the green fees were $30 I wouldn't be writing this, but to have this much maintenance on the course, not have any mention of it, and charge $60 for it is embarrassing. The staff was friendly, but it is unacceptable to not make mention of that many temporary tee boxes and issues on the course...they are actively trying to hide what they know is an inferior product. If you pay $60 for this and think it's a good golf experience then I feel bad for your standards of golf. Plenty of other options in Arizona that are better experiences and way better value. Good for them if this course was something nice 2 decades ago, it's now a dog track I wouldn't take my own dogs to now.
Save your money.
This place is in bad shape tee to green. Plenty of other options that are more fun and in better shape.

Great value
First time playing at this course, staff was very friendly. We played the back 9 & dine. The course was in great condition, a lot better than other courses in the area. The 9 & dine is a great value, meal was good and course was great! We will definitely be back to play 18.
Hi Kbehrens23, thank you for your positive review! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your experience at our course, especially the Back 9 and Breakfast option. We take pride in providing great service, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon!
PACE of Play - Course Conditions
Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly.
I always feel welcomed when arriving and checking in at the clubhousew, the range and the on course refreshments. .....
The range hitting area was hammered from prior use.... Course conditions - although the fairways were mostly green, there were random bare patches in many fairways.
And the bunkers are "under repair" ......
In some areas, we were loosing balls in rough. It's been a hot and brutal summer for most vegitation and it's taken a beating. ... gotta cut them some slack.
Usually this course is in great shape ... there's no doubt they'll have the course in pristine conditions for Fall and Winter play.
Pace of play today? ... not so good. There were 4 groups backed up on 13 .... with 1 or more groups waiting their turn on 14, 15 and 16 .... Some folks were having a rough day ..... we were going to call it a day , so we headed out for the club house ... we found wide open on 17 and 18 ...
Looking forward to the grounds crew getting the course back in shape.

Hidden gem
The course was in great shape for mid summer. Staff was friendly and the course was challenging for the weekend golfer. Had a great time and shot under 90.
Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience with us! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the course conditions and found it challenging. Shooting under 90 is quite an accomplishment! We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
why do I play this game
I will keep it as short as possible.
~so it had been over 20 years since I've played superstition springs, it has been one of my most favorite courses that I've played in AZ and it still is dispite of the recent reviews I've read and the course conditions. Inna nutshell the course isn't in great condition or for that matter bad condition either,l. I found the greens to be in good shape, mind you the course is fairly large and it is summer. Staying and playing off the fairway is where u wanna be anything left or right of it is asking for troubles and bad playing conditions. Bottom line is the price is right for summer play. Staff are so friendly and helpful. I really love the practice areas and driving range.
Hey there! Thank you for sharing your recent experience at Superstition Springs. We appreciate your feedback on the course conditions and are glad to hear you enjoyed the greens and practice areas. We strive to provide a positive experience and look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Staff was awesome
Staff was awesome! Water had malfunctioned the week before and staff explained everything and apologized for the condition of the course. It was pretty bad but not the worst I’ve ever played at. However, we were behind a foursome of younger kids who drug the first 9 holes out over at least 3 hours. It was hot and we would lose any momentum we had on waits between holes.
I don’t think we would have minded so much but going into the 4th hour, the beverage cart was done and no water in any cooler on the course. We finally gave up and left after hole 14. It was sad because we were playing decent but just couldn’t do it any more.
We did get a bounce back voucher to return because of the course condition which probably made the decision to abandon efforts easier. We will be back and hopefully have a better experience as we do see the potential of this course.
I wouldn’t tell you not to play it but if you are looking for that pristine z Arizona experience, you may be disappointed.
Hi Chris, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We appreciate your feedback and apologize for the delays and lack of amenities during your round. We're glad to hear you received a bounce back voucher and hope you'll give us another chance to provide a better experience.
Just ok
The course was in poor condition which is a shame because the corse layout itself is good.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! Please know that your feedback is important to us and the team continues to tackle the areas impactive guest experience. We hope you have a wonderful week!
Hot Springs
Golfing for me was more of a challenge. Lots of difficult hole layouts.
Hi u1743708701, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate your perspective on the challenge of our course layout. We strive to provide a variety of challenges for golfers of all skill levels. We hope to see you back on the course soon!
Great people under rough circumstances
The course is in tough shape. They were upfront about it and the fees reflected it. They had a sprinkler line break during the hottest stretch of summer. The staff were outstanding, the pace of play was awesome and I will definitely go back when the course recovers. Money well spent, and kudos to the proshop and outside service staff!
Hi Monbro, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate your understanding regarding the course conditions and are glad to hear that you still enjoyed your experience with our staff and pace of play. We look forward to welcoming you back when the course is at its best again!
Bad conditions and worst starter.
I have played here a couple times. The starter is the worst part of the day. He acts like he is the center of the golf world and needs to shut-up. He talks for 5 minutes before you can pass him and gives you nothing notable. This is not how I want to spend my money. The course is in fare condition for the heat and money. It is a very blue collar hacker course. The positives are the bag drop workers, cart girl and restaurant employees were really good.
Hi Dennis, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We apologize for the experience you had with the starter and will address this issue internally. We're glad to hear that you had positive interactions with our staff in other areas. We appreciate your input and hope to serve you better in the future.
Not the same
This course has gone downhill. No maintenance, poor amenities. Surprising this is still an Arcise course. Just sad. Find somewhere else to play.

If this is your only opinion stay Home
I’ve played this course in the past so I had no issue with booking the round. I must say this course is in horrible shape. I’ve never seen a course play this bad unless they were condemning it. The fairways had no grass, the bunkers were unplayable and the water was drained from the water hazards . Tee box’s were either dirt or overgrown. It was bad, this was the first time I ever took pictures to document how bad course conditions are. Don’t waist you time or money. It’s sad to see this course play and look like this.

Bumpy greens and dead fairways
Oh boy. Not good. The course is dead pretty kiche everywhere. I know it's summer, but trust me,lots more courses that are better for the money. Fairways were hit or miss rocks, gravel, dry dirt, mud, crab grass or every once in a while normal grass. Putting? Forget about it. The greens make your ball bounce like a pinball and you lose velocity quickly because of that. The water hazard are all dried up and smell bad. Unfortunately, a once gorgeous course has turned into a steaming pile
Thank you for sharing your feedback. Please know that your feedback is important to us and crucial to improving the areas we've missed the mark. The team will continue to elevate the transition to Summer bermudagrass Conditions. We hope you visit again to see a drastic improvement.
One of the worst courses I have seen in AZ
The course conditions were horrific. I expect the greens to be bumpy in July in AZ. But the rest of the course was horrible. Tees were not flat--uphill, sidehill. Some places had grass--likely where a sprinkler was placed--and it was so thick it was unplayable. The rest of the course had more dirt and weeds than grass. Very little sand in the bunkers (and that is being generous)
Hi RDalrymple219, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're disappointed to hear that you weren't satisfied with the course conditions. Your feedback is important to us and we will address these issues to ensure a better experience for all our guests in the future.
