The Painted Mountain Golf Club is a challenging desert-style course with a variety of different tees to accommodate every age group and skill level. The course offers a lengthier challenge from the first hole, a par-5 dogleg right, to the last, which requires an approach shot over water in order to reach the green. The Painted Mountain Golf Club, in addition to the course, is also home to the John Jacob's Golf School.

Poorly Maintained & Bad Service

I know it’s summer, but the fairways were almost non-existent. Half brown/dirt & half crab grass. $60 is a descent price but there are courses that charge the same or less in way better condition this time of year. Would not play here again without seeing the fairways. Plus the beverage cart service was bad. I’m a good tipper & the service was rough - made it difficult to want to keep buying from her. Also, they don’t serve hard alcohol so don’t expect to get a mixed drink here. I don’t like giving bad reviews but holy cow, they need to work on a few things.

Over priced for scorched up summer fairways

I understand cost of maintenance has gone up but 55 dollars for scorched fairways with no grass, scummy ponds, horrible bunkers and greens that were similar to carpet is kind of ridiculous. Also they allowed a group of 8 on a busy Sunday morning. They told them no at the beginning but the range drove right past them and didn’t try to break it up or send anyone ahead so it slowed us down to where we had to wait 5-10 minutes on every hole for the 8 person group to clear the green or get far enough on the fairway for us to tee off.

No turn house

This course starts at the club house and doesn’t return until the end. They don’t allow outside beverages but also didn’t have a cart girl until the 15th hole , don’t provide ice, and no food or beverage on course. Course layout is odd. Most of the tee boxes were moved up for reseed

It’s Bad

I’ve played here several times and I don’t expect much from this course. But right now it’s bad even by Painted Mountain standards. Patchy fairways and tee boxes, sparse areas of grass with lots of dirt and some muddy areas. They were punching greens today and had no warnings when booking. So I had to skip several holes to get ahead of the crew. Maybe they didn’t expect anyone that far on the course yet, but most of the back 9 had the sprinklers on either in the fairways or around the greens, so I either had to skip the tee shot and drop in the fairway past the sprinklers or play up to my approach shot and pick up. Last 4 holes had no cups or flags, they were pulled out and laying beside the green. Staff has always been nice enough, though you should play early because the pace does get out of hand later in the day. Starter offered to let me go through again, but honestly I preferred to just head home. I will say the greens that weren't punched yet were slow but rolled really nicely.

Do No Go No

The course was completely unplayable and even the pro shop suggested we not play as both fairways and greens were being plugged and aerated. GolfNow gave no warning online when I booked the tee time. However, the pro shop was extremely friendly and gave us a 45-day rain check to come back and play at any time. My playing partner and I thought that was extremely generous of them.

Now we can even play at any time and don't even have to worry about a hot deal.

Good value

Greens very fast and in tough shape… lots of burnout and brown on the fairways… fun track otherwise… fair course for a differ like myself- and the price point was solid… disappointed that the restaurant/bar was closed

Arizona Summer golf

Hot weather. You get a lot of roll in the fairways. Greens are excellent especially for this time of year. Played 18 holes in 2.5 hours. Could have been quicker if I had a few less strokes. 3 of the par threes were having repairs to the tee boxes and were shortened. That made for some fun short shots into the greens.

Nice round, working to improve

Enjoyed the course and the pace. Par 3 tee boxes are under remodel but rest of course is playable. Only issue was with a “golf mom” who was with her spawn behind us. We tried to let them play through but the mom said “I enjoy watching my son hit into you”.????? Will be back to our local go to spot soon.
