The golf course has undergone several renovations since its opening and the result is superb round of golf in a beautiful setting. The hilly fairways and fast greens are immaculate and well manicured. Water hazards come into play on five holes. There are also bunkers strategically placed throughout the course. Stonecreek Golf Club also has convenient practice facilities including a putting green and chipping area. There is also a pro shop and professional golf instructors on the premises.

Done with Stonecreek

There are four of us. Two near eighty and two in their mid-60’s. We do not play “ cartpath only” golf. When I booked this round I was not told we would have to stay on the cartpaths. We didn’t learn until we got to the course. Come to find out the course had been overwatered and the rough was incredibly high because the head maintenance guy was sick. If you went off the fairway you couldn’t find your ball unless you stepped on it. We got soaked walking through the high grass. We agreed that this was singularly the worst day of golf we ever experienced. Thinking we were with a tournament that teed off the backside, the ranger came out to tell us we were two holes behind the group in front of us even though we turned in two hours. He apologized when he realized we were the lead group. We play every week year round. We are done with Stonecreek golf course.

Mr. Cushman,

We truly are sorry that your group was unaware of the CPO rule. Unfortunately, since your group booked through Golf Now we were unable to inform you of the rule personally. For future reference if you check your online tee time confirmation email any unusual course maintenance or cart rules will be posted in the tee times notes. The rough was certainly higher than we would like and has been addressed. The wetness of the course you experienced was from dew as your group teed off at 6:36am. It typically takes a few hours to dissipate. Again, we apologize that your experience did not meet expectations and hope you try the course again when the CPO rule is lifted November 10th.

Respectfully,

Bad

Well, the course was scalped for overseeding. Didn't know that until I got there. It was a typical hot Phoenix day-not the courses fault, obviously-but the pace of play was the worst I have ever seen. I am a Phoenix native, been golfing for about 40 years all over the valley. By the six hole, other foursomes were giving up and driving back to the clubhouse. There were three or four foursomes waiting on the holes in front of us. We gave up on number seven and headed in. There was a Cold Beer and Cheeseburger restaurant around the corner so the day wasn't a total disappointment.

Good layout and challenging course. Getting ready to shutdown in a couple of days for over seeding Therefore it was not in great shape. But even the greens were in poor shape. Hopefully after they reopen everything will get back to good.

Buyer Beware

During this time of year in Arizona be diligent in your choice of course to play. CALL the course and ask how conditions are. This place was scalped in preparation for over seeding. I would never play a course in this condition. I checked their website and found no mention of current conditions. Waste of time and money and gas.

Stonecreek: The Golf Club - Same as it ever was

Stonecreek: The Golf Club began its life as Anasazi Country Club, designed in 1983 by Pete Dye's brother Roy. He was best known for what was a phenomenal course off of Lake Livingston in Texas, called Waterwood National, closed now for many years. For those of you have made the trek to Cabo, he also designed Cabo San Lucas Country Club which opened just before his passage in 1994. Anasazi had financial trouble, and became Mummy Mountain (Golf Club...Country Club)? It has been tweaked, since, by Greg Nash, Wadsworth Construction, Jack Snyder and Arthur Hills. With all of that said, it remains as a golf course that I would stay away from like someone with the flu.

Why? First, it's another course managed by Arcis, the heir-apparent to absolutely horrific golf management as was initially established by American Golf Corp. A secret for you: If you want to know what a company is really like, take a look at the web site GlassDoor.Com. There you will see employees and former employees discussing what works and what doesn't within the company. Yeeeouch!! What was once Evergreen Alliance Golf Limited LP became Eagle Golf and then Arcis. In Phoenix, the Arcis portfolio are courses which were once American Golf Corp. properties and generally, pretty awful.

Designwise the course is iffy: One and two are both kind of goofy and the greens are ALWAYS incredibly thin, grass wise. Six is just ridiculous, a poorly designed hole, again with a green that rarely seems healthy. Eight is.... impossible to describe other than: "Really?" Ten is similar... with a green complex that defies explanation. The rest of the holes are not really notable, at all.

I first played this course years ago in what was the Western States mini tour and was unimpressed then. Nothing has changed since then. I could point you in the direction of 5 or 6 other courses you could play for similar money and promise you that you would have a better experience. Aguila, Papago, The Legacy, Grand Canyon University, Wigwam Red or Gold... and there are more. Do your due diligence and you'll find that to be true for you, as well.

The course is still very wet from the recent monsoons. Greens started drying off by late morning. The course is well maintained. Staff was great.

Stone Temple Pilot

Last played here a year ago. Greens in pretty good shape for this time of year. Fairways a little thin in a lot of areas. Overall, a great value when you consider a cheeseburger was inclusive of the greenie! Course still requires thoughtful course management off the tees and approaches. Especially the par 5's. It's always nice to play a nice course close to home that challenges you! Will be back soon!

Ratty Fairways

The fairways have far two many bald, and balding, areas. Greens were fine. Even at this time of year, too many other courses at comparable prices, in far better condition.

July 18th round

The course layout is excellent. Many holes force you to think about your tee shot as you stand on the tee. Do I lay up or try to fly it over the trouble? Will I go into the hazard if I hit driver?

The greens were in fairly good shape, but were pretty soggy and very slow. Bunkers were just mediocre as some had nice sand but others were crusty and hard...too inconsistent. Not sure why, but the course was very soft and looked well watered but there were large areas without grass and appeared pretty scruffy. Almost as though there had been a flood recently and much of the grass died. This made for an overall average at best experience to play here.

With better conditions, I might play here again. But Stonecreek will really need to elevate the overall condition of the course in order for the player to get his money’s worth...too much competition with other courses that offer a better experience.

Stonecreek Golf Course

Course is set up nicely. Bar and grill is a good stop before or after your round. The pro shop is very friendly. The range unfortunately was only set up for irons on todays round and not sure if it's like that always but that didnt affect the round. The course is layed out for more skilled players but a beginner can find his or her way around the course. Would definitely try this course when the weather is not as humid. Fun course.

Challenging Course, Poor Conditions

I played there June 10th, 2018 and the course was not very well maintained at all. It also smelled pretty bad which may be from the recent storms. It looks like the course is in a run off area as every heavily wooded area off the hole had a ton of trash in it. There were a ton of inconsistencies in the grass and dead/ dirt patches. The greens were really slow, I mean really slow. The course is very challenging however and could be a little more fun to play during a time when the course conditions are a little better.

Challenging course

I have played this course numerous times, since it first opened as a Pete Dye course called Anasazi (then later redesigned and called Mummy Mountain, and now redesigned again and called Stone Creek). While I am partial to the original Pete Dye design, this is still a very good course that will challenge players of all skill levels. The greens had been punched and sanded recently. While they putted fairly true, there was a lot of sand on the greens. These were some of the softest greens that I have played this summer in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. I had to repair ball marks on almost every approach shot to the greens. The sand traps could use more sand, but overall, the conditions for Phoenix in the summer time were very good. It took us about 4 hours and 40 minutes to complete 18 holes. I always enjoy playing this course. A good value for the money.
