Ahwatukee Country Club
About
The sun shines 350 days a year in Phoenix and you can enjoy this factor at Ahwatukee Country Club. "Ahwatukee" is Crow Indian for "house of dreams", but this could easily be the "golf course of dreams".
The semi-private Ahwatukee Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course designed by John Bulla in 1974 that is open year-round and includes a driving range, as well as a cart included in the greens fee. The golf course is par-72 and measures 6,713 yards from the championship tees.
The Ahwatukee Country Club golf course features a fairly wide-open layout, but has out-of-bounds areas on either side of the fairways - including some with houses, so watch out for those windows - as well as water hazards on some holes. The putting greens play fast.
After a tight front nine on the Ahwatukee Country Club golf course, things open up on a razor-sharp par-4 dogleg 10th hole, with no chance to cut corners: there's a towering forest to the left.

In process
Looks like the owner wants to upgrade the facilities but they should have disclosed it was CPO because overseeing. Long way to go
Rough Conditions
Wasn’t notified when booking that they were closing down the range for overseed. Putting and chipping green were still being mowed when we got there.
Also, greens are insanely slow. No sand in the bunkers at all. Shavings of mowed greens were still on the greens when we played so it was insanely difficult and annoying to putt.
Just a poor municipal level experience
They are really starting to grow grass again but overall this is a muni dog track. Tee boxes long and shaggy. Fairways were hit miss whether you had clover, dirt, or good grass. Greens were decent but decent is all. If you can get a $10 deal I’d do it (that’s what I did) otherwise spend your money somewhere else or in their newly installed Indoor Facilities.
No Ranger on course to keep the pace up
Course is not in great shape gopher holes all over the place. The greens I don't believe were cut at least I hope they won't cut the day we played. At one point on the back nine there was three groups backed up because nobody was there to make people stay on Pace
Not horrible. Wouldn’t want to pay more than $30 right now
Definitely not one of your top notch courses around the valley. Will be interesting to see how the course looks come winter time. Lot of dirt paths and spotty grass for the fairways. Thought tee boxes and greens were in really good shape for this time of year and no complaints about them. Probably the worst thing I’ve noticed is most courses. If you don’t play before 10 or after 12 and you play in that 10 to 12 range, you tend to wait if you’re playing by yourself, which I did. Three guys in front of me, two guys in front of them, and four guys in front of them and they were all new golfers and hackers. Pretty slow play however they did wind up on the back nine letting me through until 18 when I caught the four guys. Would play again though.
Just not worth the time
So really it’s a Cow pasture, but they need more cows. The fairways are mostly DIRT with a few spots!clumps of very tall grass, hence the need for more cows. Ice machine was broken, so you had to get ice in the snack bar, where they only have one very slow girl working, she did customers one at a time? It took 15+ mins to get a hot dog only at the turn, everything else they were out of or they said took too long? So no sandwich’s except turkey club, but you to order it by phone or it took too long? Like longer than 15mins that a ready made hot dog took, lol this place is a joke. Never again,
Coming Along Nicely
I’ve been staying away from Ahwatukee Golf Club because the last few times I played there ( last year) it wasn’t in very good shape. They have new owners now and they are really doing a great job of updating and bringing it back to life. The greens are the best I’ve seen them in a long time. They are putting in an indoor golf center with giant screens too. I’m excited to watch the evolution and I will play here way more often now.
Getting better
This course has been in rough shape for so many years. I know the new ownership is working hard to make it better and a place to go in Ahwatukee.
It's come a long way, but I think it still has some work. The tee boxes need to be mowed down more and leveled. Some of the par-3s, the grass was super long and I was teeing off a slope.
There was standing water in the fairway on #1 about 50 yards short of the green. I was playing with my son and he hit it right into that nasty water. Please fix this mesquito pit.
The course can be a challenge from the back tees. I can't wait for cooler weather, to see what the course looks like, as I know it's brutal in the summer.
Suggestion to get some more juniors to play - have some shorter tee markers in the fairway for them to tee from.
Staff
Maintenance had no respect for people teeing off. The guy cutting the grass in the morning passed us literally right next to the tee box while we were teeing off during our back swing, and we let him know that he could have waited or alerted us that way he could have gotten through. He told us he didn’t have to tell us anything and seemed to get offended, he then followed us and started to cut the grass next to our balls grabbing one of our balls with the mower, we confronted him and he ignored us. We just decided to not finish the round and leave.
Great green condition
Fairways need work. Greens were in excellent condition. Staff always super friendly and helpful.
Awful course, friendly staff
Very friendly staff which is the only redeeming quality of this course.
I've never seen a worse maintained course. It's either weeds or just plain dirt. Greens are decent.
A round here shouldn't be any more than 20 bucks. That was absolutely disgusting all around.
Tired
This place has been run down and in poor shape for as long as I can remember, but it has just become so run down. What’s more, it wasn’t really that cheap, at $50 for a mid July round. Fairways in terrible shape(clover instead of grass). Greens were ok, but the irrigation system is leaking everywhere and the whole course was flooded (sand traps and fairways with standing water). It’s sad that management can’t get this place into better condition. I will hesitate to book here again and this was probably my 5th or 6th time playing here in 5 years.
