Ahwatukee Country Club
About
The sun shines 350 days a year in Phoenix and you can enjoy this factor at Ahwatukee Country Club. "Ahwatukee" is Crow Indian for "house of dreams", but this could easily be the "golf course of dreams".
The semi-private Ahwatukee Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course designed by John Bulla in 1974 that is open year-round and includes a driving range, as well as a cart included in the greens fee. The golf course is par-72 and measures 6,713 yards from the championship tees.
The Ahwatukee Country Club golf course features a fairly wide-open layout, but has out-of-bounds areas on either side of the fairways - including some with houses, so watch out for those windows - as well as water hazards on some holes. The putting greens play fast.
After a tight front nine on the Ahwatukee Country Club golf course, things open up on a razor-sharp par-4 dogleg 10th hole, with no chance to cut corners: there's a towering forest to the left.

Great value for the money
Best value for the money in the Ahwatukee area. Will be back again for another round
Fun
Played this course on a Wednesday. Course is in fair candition. Greens a little slow but pretty well groomed. First course I've played in a while where the bunkers had been maintained, with one notable exception where someone had driven a backhoe into it for some reason. Look, this isn't the Phoenician or TPC Scottsdale. The proces reflect that and I would say it's a great find for local golfers that don't want to empty the bank to play a casual round of golf.
If you want TPC Scottsdale, go spend that money but I'll be back to this course again.
Pretty nice course
Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in good shape. Areas surrounding the fairways could use some work. Overall, decent course and fair price.
Getting better
From how horrible this course has been in the past it’s definitely improving but still has a way to go
Great value - is going to be better!
I played this as a single for $41 in the winter which is a steal for a par 72 course! All of the staff was extremely friendly from the pro shop, cart return, etc. The course layout is nice & long. It plays green to tee which is nice to never see another fairway. It’s lined with houses and trees but it’s not too narrow (the back 9 narrows). The driving range and putting greens were nice.
The bad…. The greens were in rough shape. Lots of bumps and some patches. The fairways had a lot of mud and some bare spots. The pace of play took us 4hr 45min (we shot in the 80’s). At the turn, we were approached and asked how the pace was, we were honest and they said they’d send a ranger, but we never saw one.
The better…. I’ve never played here before but the 3 guys I was paired with have. They all said, even though the course wasn’t in great shape, it is drastically improved from the years prior. I know the course was bought last year, is under new ownership and they have been making improvements left & right.
Bottom line…. You’re not getting a PGA quality course here (yet) but for most of us average golfers, you can’t beat the price!!! I’ll go back and hope to continue to see improvements!
ok to play
some of the fairways were wet. the greens on the front nine need fill in the back was ok.
The pace a play was good on the front and slow on the back.
we got a deal
So Bad
Staff was nice but the course conditions were SO BAD. It's the worst combination of swamp and dirt. The grass is soggy and swampy with casual water everywhere. There's also vast expanses of dirt. The greens were shaggy and very inconsistent. I played here about 4 years ago and it was trash then. Thought it might have gotten better. It has not. I gave it another try because it was fairly cheap at $50. Lesson learned. I will never come back to this course. It's embarrassing how bad it it. Don't waste your time or your money.
Not in great shape.
Pace of play was poor. We had 2 groups in front of us who were together. The 1st group were very slow and a big gap opened up in front of them. We finally saw a Marshall on hole 18, but he just put his head down and drove past.
Practice facilities were OK.
Greens were slow and inconsistent. Fairways were very patchy and the sand traps were rock hard and mostly unplayable.
Ahwatukee cc
Lots of dirt spots on fairways.
Many divots left on greens.
I fixed 3-4 most every green.
Too Slow
5 hours and 50 minutes for 18 holes is unacceptable. Never saw a course marshall out there.
