Ahwatukee Country Club
About
The sun shines 350 days a year in Phoenix and you can enjoy this factor at Ahwatukee Country Club. "Ahwatukee" is Crow Indian for "house of dreams", but this could easily be the "golf course of dreams".
The semi-private Ahwatukee Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course designed by John Bulla in 1974 that is open year-round and includes a driving range, as well as a cart included in the greens fee. The golf course is par-72 and measures 6,713 yards from the championship tees.
The Ahwatukee Country Club golf course features a fairly wide-open layout, but has out-of-bounds areas on either side of the fairways - including some with houses, so watch out for those windows - as well as water hazards on some holes. The putting greens play fast.
After a tight front nine on the Ahwatukee Country Club golf course, things open up on a razor-sharp par-4 dogleg 10th hole, with no chance to cut corners: there's a towering forest to the left.

Alright….
Everyone is entitled to their own review/opinion but this course is not bad at all. Especially for the price. Everyone who is talking about the dirt, must be hitting the ball close to the houses. If you play the ball in the fairway, where it’s suppose to go, you’re gravy. The greens roll awesome and true. Bunkers are solid concrete though, which sucks. One thing to point out is this course never over seeded for the fall/winter(trust me, you can tell if a course has overseeded recently if you play a lot in az).
Poor condition, not worth playing
This course was in terrible condition. Half of the fairways have compounded dirt, the other half is summer grass that was dying. Note to self, when you find a $68 course in AZ, it’s not worth playing!
Course is getting better
First time playing here in 10+ years. I recognize the course has new owners and it takes time to fix a neglected golf course. The greens rolled nicely. Fairways are OK. The grass around the greens is pretty uneven and needs attention. Pretty crowded, bu moved OK.
Course has a lot of bare spots on the sides of fairways but overall course is great. Will be back to play again
New investment
Good to see them putting a little money into the place. Keep it coming.
Nice day at Ahwatukee GC
Fairways and greens were in good shape. Not many on the course in the afternoon, so pace of play was great.
Poorly Maintained
The course was in very rough shape. The greens were very bouncy and didn’t run true at all. The fairways were okay, but if you go off at all, then you’re in mud or sticks. They don’t have any type of rough or grass outside the skinny fairway.
Uppity Course Marshall
I don’t really have much to complain about with the exception of the fact that we kept being pushed to tee off earlier than our 9:36 tee time. It was a Saturday and there was a men’s league starting at 10…The Marshall made sure to run into us multiple times to remind us of the men’s league. Our pace of play was fine, but each interaction cost us at least a minute… I think we understood it at the first time he shared.
If there’s going to be so much anxiety about the men’s league, perhaps don’t allow tee times so close to the start of the men’s league?
Ahwatukee play
The course was in better shape than I’ve seen in a long time. They still need to put more sand in the traps. Of the three I played out of, one of them I got through to the dirt below. The greens were really good. The fairways need a little more grass on the outer edges and there was still some sparse areas on the fairways. Overall, it is a lot better. They need to allow 9 hole tee times. Not everyone has a full day to play 18 holes. I think they are missing out on some more income from paying players. One other thing, your driving range needs work, including yardage markers and new mats. Most of the mats are worn out. They also need to get squeegees to remove the water that builds up under and around the mats. I am always being hit by water splashing on me from the player hitting behind me.
5 Somes
Tee boxes and greens in very good condition. Fairways marginal. Good pace of play until I ran into two back to back fivesomes on 12th hole. Never saw a marshal. I’m ok with afternoon fivesomes but never in the morning
Friendly Staff but Rough Course and Agonizing Pace of Play
The staff was super friendly, and the price point was pretty low. This is probably the roughest course I have ever played, with vast swaths of dirt making up significant portions of fairways. I would have still had fun if not for the lack of awareness and urgency from the foursome in front of us. We spent most of our time watching them from the tee box as they took multiple mulligans to move 40 yards up the fairway, usually in a side-to-side fashion. I would only recommend this course if you were desperate.
