Arizona Grand Resort
About
The Arizona Grand Resort (formerly known as Phantom Horse Golf Club) boasts a challenging golf course, blending desert target golf with traditional links, playing par-71 over 6,336 yards, and a 7,000-square-foot practice green with a bunker and chipping area for a pre-round tune-up.
After a round at Arizona Grand Resort, head to an onsite drinking or dining spot: there's Mexican food, and then there's Southwestern dancing, and then there's a sports bar so you can catch up with someone else's game indoors or outdoors on the patio.
The Arizona Grand Resort also offers several packages, ranging from stay-and-play to family deals to getaways for women to romantic suite packages, complete with breakfast in bed.

Golfer Reviews
Poor overall maintenance
I like the diversity of the course. Tee boxes and a couple of greens are in very poor condition. Overall collateral grounds are not very well maintained….trash, broken fences and course had several areas fenced off/repair…2nd hole particularly bad. Too many other good courses to enjoy.
First time impressions
Some of the fastest greens I have ever played. Downhill putts can be positively scary. Course conditions were good overall. Some fairways were muddy in places possibly from the rain 3 days before. I enjoyed the variety of the holes and the varied shots required. All the staff members very very friendly. My only complaint was the pace of play. The front nine took 2 hours 10 minutes. But, because of the short finishing holes and other golfers with grandiose ideas about their abilities, the last 3 holes took and hour to play.
We will return now that we have a little local knowledge
The four of us really enjoyed the round but, as first timers to this course, local knowledge would have been helpful. This is a well groomed course with some great challenges and we will go back.
Best
I played with my grandson. This is the finest course we have played
We play somewhere every Wed. The staff was great. We finished at dusk. The course was spectacular with unbelievable views and challenges on the course. Can't wait to find a deal to play it again.
Nice course
Front nine & back nine completly different.
Front nine is a little rough with alot of geese & ducks.
Back nine more desert like.
In nice condition
There are a few nice holes on the back 9 but overall not a great track
I see why it's popular
Enjoyed playing here. Front and back 9's are very different (back is more difficult/narrower).
Course is kept in very good condition. Only gripe is that many of the tee boxes are pretty chewed up, but fairways and greens are good.
Bar/restaurant inside is good too.
First time but I will go back again
Four of us played at the Arizona Grand Resort in Phoenix. Located in a truly grand old fashioned resort, the course was a combination of lush fairways, desert wastelands on each side and lighting fast undulating greens. Some great and some not so great shots but local knowledge would have been useful. Most of us would welcome a return trip. Outstanding vistas of the valley and one par 5 with massive tiered sand traps. Water comes into play on many holes.
Replay
It’s one of those courses you need a replay to understand where you should try to hit your shot. In good shape really fast greens. No one in the pro shop after the round and I wanted to buy a couple of shirts they had on sale.
Excellent course
The only warm up area is hitting off mats in a cage. 😚. Practice putting green is small. There are two distictly different 9s. The course conditions were very good but not lush. The greens were firm and fast and true but with some blemishes. I am 9 hcp and played blue tees and usually had 100 yard approach shots. The first 9 was fairly tight with construction on #2 and some well positioned but poorly maintained penalty areas. Interesting slopes and elevation changes; blind shots on #1,2,6. I liked the course design rewarding shot shape and distance control. The second 9 was completely different with very scenic holes, pedestalled tee boxes, larger greens, elevation up and down, bordering mountain with hiking trail. #18 tee box is a fantastic photo op looking down on the green and out towards downtown. Well worth the $100 greens fee.
Terrible day
I have played here before and enjoyed it. Today was different. They had overbooked the course and didn't manage pace at all. We had a 1:00 tee time and got off late. We followed another group playing from the wrong tees and waited on every hole. We eventually left with 4 holes to go and on the way back to clubhouse each tee box had 2 groups waiting.
When we got to the clubhouse the outside service staff was indifferent to our issues. There was no one in the shop to talk to.
Add in no range to warm up, and a very cumbersome bag drop area and it was a less then favorable day.
