San Tan Highlands (formerly known as The Golf Club at Johnson Ranch) boasts a championship course with a front nine that winds through the Sonoran desert and a back nine that finishes at the base of the bordering San Tan Mountains. Naturally, the first half of the golf course is relatively flat and the latter half has a hilly terrain. In contrast to its categorization as a desert course, this course has grass from the tees to the greens but the cactus-filled landscape definitely implies desert. The greens are quite large and undulating and the fairways are fairly open with generous landing areas. Strategically placed sand bunkers and water hazards come into play throughout the San Tan Highlands.

Well worth the drive. Friendly and great layout
Course was fantastic but post round lunch was disappointing. Took almost an hour to get our food.

Green Fees
We paid $132 each to play and the twosome we joined only paid $68 each! This is too extreme. We shouldn't have to search for decent rates on many different sites. We used to play here a lot but only rarely now even though we love the course.

The course is not in great condition, not worth the price to play here. Many of the tee boxes were so hard you could hardly get a tee in the ground.

Always enjoy playing here. San Tan Highlands.
My wife and I played with another couple of friends. Easy check in. Range was No Drivers today. Not a worry. Greens were in good shape. Tee boxes and fairways as well. GPS keeps you honest. No going off the paths into the rocks or passing the pegs leading up to the green! We ate at the outdoor patio and enjoyed our meals. The staff were very friendly. We will return here and recommend it to others. I wish we could take the clubs to our vehicles when finished play.
