About
San Tan Highlands (formerly known as The Golf Club at Johnson Ranch) boasts a championship course with a front nine that winds through the Sonoran desert and a back nine that finishes at the base of the bordering San Tan Mountains. Naturally, the first half of the golf course is relatively flat and the latter half has a hilly terrain. In contrast to its categorization as a desert course, this course has grass from the tees to the greens but the cactus-filled landscape definitely implies desert. The greens are quite large and undulating and the fairways are fairly open with generous landing areas. Strategically placed sand bunkers and water hazards come into play throughout the San Tan Highlands.

Golfer Reviews
San Tan highlands golf
Fairways thin. Greens average. First time on par 3 with astro turf tee!
Course is in okay shape, not great. Twilight rate should probably be less based on the condition. Greens were very dry and slow, sand compact, fairways and tee boxes need work as well.
Excellent Course
The course was in very good condition. Just a few bare spots, but very minimal. Greens were in excellent condition. Pace was very good. The back 9 is just a beautiful track with wonderful scenery and challenging golf holes. Will definitely be back.
Scenic Course with great layout
A course you definitely have to play, because of the awesome scenery and the great layout. It's amazing how the course is built into the hills. Elevated tees and greens give you a spectacular view.
The course itself is in okay shape. Greens are slow but good.
We played it on Sunday around noon and it felt like we were the only people on the course.
Go there and don't forget to bring your 'camera'!
Expensive, but a great course
Challenging course thats well kept with great scenery, but i dont understand the extremely high rates.
