McCormick Ranch Golf Club features two lush manicured year-round courses amid the lovely views of Scottsdale. Both the Palm and Pine golf courses' championship tees lay to over 7,000 yards, and there are also the options of men's, seniors' and ladies' tee sets to allow everyone a crack at the tests offered by these golf courses.

Golf Illustrated selected the ninth hole of the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club to be "One of the USA's Top 18 Water Holes." It's just one of 10 water holes on the golf course, which, as you might imagine, also features lots of big palms. In all, the golf course plays to over yards from the blue tees, including four par-5 holes that measure over 500 yards.

A round of golf on the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which plays close to 400 yards from the blue tee and requires a drive right-center to ensure a short-iron second shot.

Staff were very friendly, greens and fairways were in great condition. Rough was a little beat up. Pace of play was awesome. Will definitely be coming back soon.

Fair to average course. Greens were not true and burnt. Value for money was low.

Average course

The golf attendant that sent us off the first tee made it sound like it was the best course in Arizona. We were really looking forward to golfing it. Obviously the guy has never golfed another golf course in the area. It was okay. Greens were slow. Fairways were maintained well, pro shop was nice with a good selection of merchandise and friendly staff. I will probably never golf it again. Definitely better courses in the area for the money.

Tale of Two 9s

Place was okay. Staff were all pleasant and informative. Played the Palm course and it’s still not quite there out of overseed, but they are charging like they are. Front 9 conditions were better, but the fairways were grown up to 1-2 inches and the greens were fairly slow. Made the turn and so did the conditions. Very rough on the back-9. It almost felt like we ventured off onto a completely different facility. Lots to be desired on the back. Overall, it’s a decent facility, but definitely overpriced for what they are currently offering. Has that “golf factory” feel to it which is unfortunate for the design and the scenery.

Average public course

The course was in okay shape after a hot summer. We played the first 6 holes at a good pace, but then waited on every hole after that. It wouldn’t take the staff much of an effort to figure out what group was holding up the course and ask them to skip a hole. That would keep the course moving for everyone else. When paying a $200 greens fee, I would expect some waters in the cart and a towel to clean clubs and golf ball (when preparing to putt). Little things, but that takes this course to the next level.

Great greens

The overall course is average. Barely any sand in the bunkers and the fairways are kind of beat up and burned out. Could just be the time of year. Looking forward to seeing it in another 1-2 months. The greens are the best part…firm but hold shots and not lighting fast but fast enough.

Disappointed

Disappointed. Overpriced. Poor condition, except for the greens which were smooth and fast. Tee boxes and a lot of the fairways were low cut weeds, not smooth grass. Bunkers were inconsistent, some with very little sand, some with a lot of rocks, one with putrid puddles. This was the Palm Course. Good friendly service by staff. Good practice area. A large (not jumbo) bucket cost $17. I've played courses in this condition that cost $25.

Palm Course

Enjoyed the course. They started us a few minutes early and we played the first 5 holes at a good pace and then had to wait on most holes. We were a foursome and Somme a few groups ahead of us had the course backed up. No effort to discover the backup and move players along. Course was in good shape and fun/fair to play.

Palm is a good layout

Like this old park course - good views of mountains, but a little pricey. Maintenance needs to trim grass around the edges of the bunkers.
