McCormick Ranch Golf Club features two lush manicured year-round courses amid the lovely views of Scottsdale. Both the Palm and Pine golf courses' championship tees lay to over 7,000 yards, and there are also the options of men's, seniors' and ladies' tee sets to allow everyone a crack at the tests offered by these golf courses.

Golf Illustrated selected the ninth hole of the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club to be "One of the USA's Top 18 Water Holes." It's just one of 10 water holes on the golf course, which, as you might imagine, also features lots of big palms. In all, the golf course plays to over yards from the blue tees, including four par-5 holes that measure over 500 yards.

A round of golf on the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which plays close to 400 yards from the blue tee and requires a drive right-center to ensure a short-iron second shot.

Nice course, with a few challenges

Overall a great course to play. Course conditions were very good but it was very busy. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition but challenging slopes on the greens. Pin positions made a couple of the greens unreasonably tough. For the price the experience would have been better with staff changes and an unruly group of drunken golfers that spoiled the back 9 for us. Not the courses fault for the latter of course. For the price I expect better.

Great Options

We played what’s considered to be twilight and pain half the price but the guys were working hard and keeping track so we got out in enough time to play . We actually teed off a little early and were able to get 16 of the 18 done. A lot of water on this course but a lot of room too. We had a wonderful time on our last day of vacation there.

We will surly play the Palm again. We are from out of state and left a blizzard to be there in the sun. A bit cooler this year but sunshine none the less. We are seasonal golfers at home.

Fun golf

I played with a lady from my Minnesota club and we were paired with an older couple. They played good golf and we finished our round in 3 hours and 45 minutes. We all had a nice time.

Just an average course, and somewhat unplayable the day we were there.

Truthfully, I hardly ever dislike a golf course. I know it takes an extreme amount of money, effort, and manpower. The day we played, the greens were unplayable. The architecture and hardness of the greens was the problem. More than half of them were tilted at such a severe angle, for one thing, but the surfaces were as hard as concrete. Throwing a pitching wedge 80 feet in the air, then having the ball bounce, with no divot, and roll off the back, or worse, roll to the back and circle around to roll off the front get old. One of our group is a solid 2 index, and shot an extremely frustrating 90! He was exasperated. Imagine how us 13-ers felt? It was also a bit boring, with not much elevation or variation.

Nothing special

Nothing special. If you are desperate to play Scottsdale in January it’ll do. Over priced, slow play (5 hours), fair course conditions, but you can get out.

Bring your best short game

Nice layout and good Mountain View’s. Mostly forgiving fairways but nasty green complexes. Super fast greens. Virtually no rough and tightly mowed. On one green where the hole was cut into a steep incline everyone in our group, which was mostly competent players, had their balls come to a stop on the green with chip shots only to begin rolling downhill off the green and through the non existent rough into the water. Maybe for an Open qualifier that’s ok…. Still, overall it’s worth checking out. Pace of play was excellent.

Great layout

Greens & fairways were in great shape. Course design and hole layout were very challenging, with some really nice views. Some holes were lined with very nice houses.

Pin placement on many holes was unfair. You couldn't make a putt even if you hit it perfect as the hole was on a side-slope. It seemed like it was set-up for pros.

Staff was very friendly & helpful. Facilities are fantastic - restaurant, range, putting & chipping greens were all above par. I would definitely play here again!
