Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
About
The Pine Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club offers mature pines, in an appropriate contrast to its sibling golf course, the Pine Course, and is also narrower than the other golf course. What they have in common include the facts that Desmond Muirhead designed both of them and they both date back to 1972; recent renovations have also given both golf courses new greens, sand traps and bridges.
The Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club measures 7,187 yards, kicking off on a 398-yard par 4 that requires tee shot toward the fairway's center, leaving golfers a mid- to short-iron from the green, which slopes narrowly. Things get long by the fourth hole, one of four par-5 holes that come in at over 500 yards; this one, for example, makes you place your drive well toward right-center if you want to shoot for it in two. Close out the round of golf on the 18th hole, another long one, at 517 yards from the blue tees, and a tight hole to drive that will, thankfully, provide your last test for the day.

It Was Fine
Course was fine. Nothing special. Took the kids and very forgiving for all types.
It was fine
Took the kids to play. It was fine..not great but forgiving for all ages.
Good value
Better than expected. Played with wife and another couple. Pine course is a Parkland type course. Course length fit my game/expectations. Ladies length was good on most holes but too long on some.
Decent Course
Good, very playable course.
Bunkers very inconsistent but it had rained earlier.
Not my favorite but for a good deal would return
Lower prices that other courses
The Pine course was not in top condition due to recent cold and wet weather. This is a well designed course with complex greens and bunkers. The rough was dormant grass that had been damaged by carts during wet conditions. I woukd like to play this course when it iscin better shape.
Disappointed in the course conditions
I have played these two courses numerous times since they were first built. I was very disappointed by the condition of the rough and the sand traps. There was little to no grass in many areas of the rough. If you missed the fairway by a foot, you were often hitting off from hard dirt. The sand traps were poor, with several containing very little dirt/sand. I had a discounted price for my tee time. I would not pay full price this time of year to play these courses again.
Just Okay
The Positives: Good layout. Carts performed well.
The Negatives: The staff was surprisingly inattentive. No one offered to take my bag until I walked it right up to the window. Within 10 minutes my towel hanging from the handle of my bag was gone. Upon completion of the round no one came to clean the clubs and earn a tip.
The areas that were not over seeded were simply hard pan, almost bare. The greens were average---not very fast but reasonably smooth.
McCormick Ranch GC
Drove up from Tucson to meet a friend and play here. Staff was friendly but tee times were every eight minutes. We waited on 7 of 9 holes on front side. Waited means waited on each shot. At the turn, there were long lines at the halfway house. Number 10 had two groups on the tee when we arrived (making it the third group waiting). We left and asked for an “adjustment” of the price. None available.
I’d suggest playing somewhere else.
Slow play
Took 5 hours to finish round. Ppl hitting up on us with no ranger to control them.
Course is a nice tho
1st time
Total rain out..had a reservation but due to Major Rain CXL 24 hr before...Staff very helpful in allowing us to cxl no charge inside 48 hrs.. Will defiantly play here next visit !!!
Good test.
Bring you game with this course. Lots of water and strategic placement of tee balls. Plenty of length and difficult rough in the summer. Good practice facility’s. 36 holes so plenty of tee times.
Good deal
Wide open fairways. Could have used some course knowledge on a couple holes. Good course for the price.
very mediocre golf course. not really worth the time.
Fun course....except for pace of play! Five hour round is not acceptable...
Need more Marshall’s on the course. The two groups in front of us paired up to create a sixsome...plus they were novice golfers....after 8 holes we called the clubhouse and asked for the marshal. He did come out and the groups broke up into two threesomes. Still slow, but better. We were paired with a really fun couple so even though the play was slow, we had a fun time.
