TPC Scottsdale - The Champions Course

We had a tee time for Thurs 10/14 and we had to cancel due to one player having a serious heart problem that landed him in the hospital,and I called up to cancel and got a hard time cancelling,telling me we would be charged due to a 72 hr cancellation policy!! And they asked if the other 3 would play,that is outrageous,we spent the night in the hospital and we have to cancel the remaining vacation! I had to lock my credit card out,that is sad!!

Course was in good shape, couldn’t really tell they just got done re seeding. Greens were a little bumpy here and there and A LOT of unrepaired divots on most greens. 245 tee time and got paired with two others and only got through 12 holes before the sun set. Played the first 8 holes in 1:50 minutes then at 9, I kid you not, we waited 12-17 minutes in between EVERY shot. I get it that it’s peak season, but the last 4 holes were absolutely miserable and you wasted $125 for 12 holes. It’s a decent money wise value for the time of year but If you want to finish 18 I’d get a tee time no later than 1pm. Cart girl was seen routinely. And forgot to mention that it’s cart path only for a while longer, so that’s one of the reasons it took a while also. But the back 9 pace was just un called for on a Thursday afternoon

Everything was great except the greens & tee boxes that were shaggy….had to hammer your putts, probably time of year. Staff were all great - highly recommend

Played the Champions course for the first time today, although I have traveled to Scottsdale on numerous occasions and played golf at many other very fine courses in the area. The course was in overall good shape - although the greens were very slow due to recent overseeding. The front nine was fairly pedestrian but the back nine has a bit more 'teeth' to it, with four par 4's over 400 yards, two fairly challenging par 5s and two long par 3s from the white tees. The short par 4 15th hole proved to be a true 'risk-reward' hole that got me for trying to 'cut the corner' - and I paid for it. I enjoyed the layout as I thought the course was very playable. Also, the pace of play was reasonable for mid-week and the staff was very friendly all around. Several people told me prior to playing that the Champions course was as much if not more challenging then the Stadium course, but since the Stadium course was closed due to overseeding, I will have to make that judgment or comparison another time.

Difficult course if you do not have your A game driving

This course is welcoming and great for all levels of talent. Nice challenging holes and nice buzz at the end of day when you had a great day. Lovely touch with the extra towels for the hot weather.
