Starfire Golf Club - The King Course

Course was good. A little slow, but not terrible. 4:45 on a Saturday afternoon. Good price compared to other Scottsdale courses.

Way way way too slow pace of play. Clearly overbooked. Avoid the weekend… Least fun round of the winter.

Have played here many times over the last 16 years. The course was in overall great shape, from tee to green and everything in between. Seems the maintenance crews have really turned this club around. If you’re looking for value on a nice track in the heart of Scottsdale consider Starfire.

Condition of fairways and greens was very good...greens were a little slow but rolled nice and true.

This course is VERY tightly wedged between houses and roads however, so if you are a bomb and gouger, this might not be the best place for you to play.

Otherwise it is a good layout, with a few challenging holes and with the conditioning as good as it is, it's a pretty good value.

Course was in excellent condition. Fairways, greens and tees all in good shape. Friendly staff. Nice facilities.

We were a twosome. There was a couple in front of us. Then an older gentleman with a friend and a younger man came to first tee. They were slow but not awful. They caught the couple on the back nine and teamed up with them. That’s when things ground to a halt. We saw a ranger who was nice but didn’t help. When we finally quit on 16 no one was playing 17 or 18 (two holes). They need a starter on the first tee and better rangers on the course. Also the cart was from a different generation.

Have played many times ...the pace of play was brutal 2hr 40 mins for front ..quit after 9

We are in Scottsdale for some sun and golf. Starfire is the 4th track we played. The price is lower than so many other courses, the grass is actually green as opposed to dyed (what's with that at other courses?!), and while it isn't a masterpiece, it was a fun round. The pro shop staff were friendly and the starter was really sweet. The course is surrounded by homes and is a parkland layout. It's not a long course but I see that as a positive, especially for women, as the forward fees measure just over 4000 yards. There is a lot of water that comes in to play. There are also a lot of bunkers, but the good news is there's actually sand in them. We didn't stay after for food or a drink so I can't comment on that.

Grass on greens not smooth. Slow and ball rolls poorly.
