Legend Trail Golf Club
About
When the architect Rees Jones created the golf course at the Legend Trail Golf Club, he created a golf course that brings out the Old West-style air of Scottsdale and a fun and testing golf course with greens made of bent grass. It's a premium golf course smack dab in the Sonora Desert.
The golf course at the Legend Trail Golf Club features broad fairways, diminutive bunkering and tees placed on islands, and has been called one of the Top 100 golf courses by Golf Magazine. The magazine also gives Legend Trail 4.5 stars out of five among its
Best Places to Play, and has one of the Top 100 Woman-Friendly Fairways, according to Golf For Women magazine. Panoramas include local sites like Pinnacle Peak, and a round at Legend Trail Golf Club gives all levels of golfer several different shot-making options.
Golf a late-afternoon round on Friday or Saturday, and head back to the Trail's End Grill from 4 to 6 p.m. for specials on drinks and appetizers.

Another Great Hole Photo submitted by mhinkle on 09/23/2012
Slow play a bummer
Course was in very good shape. Really looking forward to playing the course as we played it once before and had a decent time. Unfortunately the pace of play was painfully slow that we quit after 12 holes. We had to wait between 5 and 20 minutes between almost every shot. We even went back and played the 10th hole a second time to try to create some space with the group in front of us. Unfortunately we got to the 12 th tee box and were waiting again. group was n front of us was extremely slow and there was another group in from by of them that was also very slow. There were no marshals on the course to my monitor speed of play. Played the day before at a different course and was able to finish round in less than 4 hours. Would pay more to play that course again vs the miserably slow round at The Legend Trail. So sad because it is a nice course in good shape.
Nice course
This was a very nice course. Played it on a cold blustery day. Staff was nice. Course is in very good shape. Much like a mini Boulders course for a lot less money. Would definitely play again.
Beautiful N Scottsdale course
Beautiful course built around the homes in the desert in north Scottsdale. Challenging but very playable
Covid
I would say overall everything was good, except I was told I must ride with another player. I was alone and preferred not riding in the cart with someone I didn't know while Covid is still a concern. Fortunately, when they went to put the other player's bag on my cart they found the cart strap to be broken so we rode separately. It was an afternoon tee time and I don't think they were low on carts. Just an FYI. I won't book again there as a single for that reason until its safer to do so.
Lack of covid considerations.
Course great as always. I friendly and I accommodating in pro shop. Wanted my own cart. When Calle 1 day before as single never told I could have my own cart. This is covid tine. Don’t be nasty and cavalier about it. I offered to pay a riser fee still no. No regard for the virus or my co side ration. Despite great course will look elsewhere
Photos just don’t do it justice
Beautiful course with amazing views. Well manicured. Would definitely play again
Very nice having been recently overseeded.
Staff especially friendly and helpful while observing COVID protocol. The pace of play was best ever. It was a very enjoyable experience. Thanks to Pro Shop, Outside services and beverage cart attendant.
Not for beginners
Gorgeous course up in the high desert, but extremely high difficulty level. If you hit the ball solid, but a little off line, it's very likely that your ball will run off into the desert and be lost. I'm a 15 handicap and I usually lose 6 to 8 balls a round.
The practice facility, including an excellent range, is free on the day you play.
I purchased the summer pass and played a lot of rounds from May to September for $29 + fees. I will definitely buy the pass again next year.
If you enjoy a challenge and like to play on a beautifully manicured course, this course may be for you.
Sub-par conditions and hidden fee. Have seen better
Course is in poor condition - they just cut the grass on every fairway and left a layer of yellow / dead grass. They also charge a hidden water fee which I’ve never seen anywhere else. Considering how dry the course was, I’m not sure where that cost goes to...
If you have a ride along, they charge $30. Customer service is decent but I’ve seen this course better overall. Better bang for the buck elsewhere.
hidden gem
great experience, good for all levels. Course conditions were excellent.
Legend Trail
No staff to meet at bag drop. had to grab a cart and load my own bags.
Was supposed to play with a twosome and they decided they didn't want anyone to play with them, so went by myself. No real problem with pace on the front nine, back nine ran into a foursome, a threesome, two singles and another twosome waiting behind me. You would think the pro shop would try and match some of these golfers up together for a better pace of play overall.
Never saw a Marshall, never saw any staff at the end of round. Cleaned my own clubs and unloaded myself.
I have played Scottsdale Golf managed courses before and usually have very good service. A little disappointed at this course...
First Impression
Excellent condition and a challenging layout. Will play again.
Wow!
This course is in unbelievable summer conditions! I have played many courses this summer in the Phoenix area and this is in the best shape. Greens are amazing and rolling perfect and the fairways somehow still are green and lush. I would highly recommend going out and seeing for yourself!
A new find for this golfer
I was impressed by the layout and conditioning of this gem. Nice practice area. Had a 2pm tee time all to myself on a hot afternoon and poked around in four hours just because I was enjoying myself so much. .I will admit to driving up and down #11 twice and hitting six different tee shots just trying to figure out where to go on this split fairway dogleg left with options. Get ready for some uneven lies on rolling fairways. Never saw so many baby quail anywhere else. I'll be back soon.
Great Experience Overall
Thoroughly enjoyed the course. However, it would've been much better, especially being our 1st time, if they had GPS on the carts or at the very least a course map on the scorecard - having to use an app on my phone constantly is cumbersome. Several holes are blind and it forces you to make a best guess at your shot. Also, the Marshall was ever present but it seemed as though his responsiblity was more to be seen than do anything about pace of play. 4.5 hrs is excruciatingly long - especially when you're always having wait after each hole for the group ahead to tee off. Not sure the Marshall ever said a word to them. Still, all in all, I would recommend this course and do plan to play here agsin.
