Ironwood/Acacia at Kierland Golf Club
About
Kierland Golf Club offers three nines: Ironwood, Acacia, and Mesquite that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The courses have a true desert feel with water only coming into play three times, on the final hole of each nine. The Ironwood/Acacia Course combines the most player-friendly of the nines with the club's signature nine. Ironwood offers a sampling of Acacia's signature mounding but its layout has a links feel that is more forgiving. The Acacia nine offers a fair challenge with a bevy of mounds and bunkers strategically placed along all of the fairways. The final par-5 hole is the golf course's signature. It is one of the area's most challenging finishes with water all along the left side of the fairway and mounding along the right as well as a green protected by five bunkers.

Great layout and good test of golf.
Acacia was in excellent shape with really nice greens, Mesquite had been punched and sanded so greens substantially slower and bumpier. Overall great course even in summer course in good condition. Will play again this summer while rates are reasonable. Peak season locals are pretty much priced out of playing.
nice course
the course was in very good shape for summer
first 9 green were very nice and second 9 green just OK
great course
always been one of the better courses in arizona..
help! need water
started out nice. nice covered driving range. friendly staff....etc.... but come on people! when its 112 degrees outside, there needs to be water jugs every other hole or so and it better be ice cold! thats the big problem here. there was water only on a few holes and it was hot.
you have to do better than that
Great Experience
Got a tee time at 4:03pm. I played with two other younger kids that are part of the wedding party. We were able to get a 4 person cart since I was the only one that could drive. The cart was excellent. The range was excellent as well. The putting green was sandy and slower than what we found on the actual course. Teeboxes were in great shape, and the same goes for the fairways and greens. The rough was very short, so if you drove it offline it was very forgiving. The bunkers were well taken care of.
Excellent resort layout
Played the course three consecutive days on the 3 day unlimited golf package. We played the acacia- ironwood nines each day as the mesquite was closed. Course conditions are outstanding. The tee box areas, fairways and greens are meticulously maintained. The greens run very true and a well struck putt will produce a good result. The course some interesting holes but is not the most challenging venue in the Valley. The back tees make it interesting for lower handicaps while the more forward tees make it fun for recreational players. The staff is friendly and professional. The club also has an excellent practice facility and a very good restaurant
Very Nice!
Course in very nice condition. Firm and receptive greens with very true roll. Overall great job of maintenance by the crew. A bit if inconsistency in a couple of the bunkers. From back tees I like that you have to hit the occasional 5 iron into the greens. I found a great rate online. Play Kierland!
Pace of Play
We played as a twosome in less than 3 hours. Course was in perfect shape, easy course for a new golfer.
the course was so ok
i quit at third holes because of very very slow. too many golfers behind us. every hole i had to wait more than four min.
Really enjoyable course in Great Condition
Course is in great shape. Grass cut with walkways from tee box gives it a pro feel. Greens are fast, consistent, but very receptive to incoming shots. Loved the wide fairways. Carts have GPS and really cool built-in misters, great for hot summer play. Covered driving range, good chipping area, and a practice green large enough and flat enough so you can practice all the length and speed of semi-flat putts, not just steep short breakers. What's not to like including a convenient close-in North Scottsdale location, easy to get to. Did not rate food and bev. as I did not get anything to eat or drink but the people in the pub certainly looked like they were having a good time.
Difficult terrain; Limited, distant cart access
Lovely facilities and friendly staff make the club a pleasant place but on course, carts are too often very far from tees and greens. One hole, number 9 on Acacia is banked so steep right to left as to be difficult to walk and certainly unfriendly to carts which must remain uphill on the cart path. Similarly, hole 1 on Mesquite is so wide and slanted right to left that you take forever to walk from cart to ball if you hit to left side. Carts are also extremely close to homes on many holes.
However, facilities are great overall.
Enjoyable resort course
Excellent conditions. The course is more open and forgiving than some of the desert courses. Very well maintained. The greens are very good. The staff was very friendly. Expensive to play. Cost is the main disadvantage. The course is fun to play. Practice sand shots before playing here.
Fun for All
There was an experienced golfer and a new golfer in our group and both found the course to be enjoyable and challenging. Fairways were in excellent condition.
We purchased our Tee time from Golfnow at a significantly reduced rate so good value for dollar - Would not have been good value for dollar at the full rate given comparable courses in the area.
Great course, challenging green locations
For a little shorter distance the course offered enough challenges with tight greens, course elevations etc. A little pricey but fun
Very good golf experience
The course is in excellent shape, very forgiving for any calibre of golfer but sufficiently challenging for the low handicap. Having to walk to your ball on 5 holes on front 9 I played down and up big hills is a pain but part of the experience. Overall good value but I only paid $105 on Golf Now...full rate would be high.
excellent experience
The course was in great shape, everyone treated us great. Would recommend the course to everyone.
great place
Love this place. Play it often. Great fsirways and greens.
One of the better courses in the area
Course in great shape. Gr=ns were beautiful.
Paid $89 to play the course through golf now.com
Top Notch Facility
Kierland is expensive, but it's worth it. Top notch facility: nice practice area, and putting green. The staff is welcoming, and the course conditions were pristine. The restaurant has good food too. I'll definitely come back again.
A nice vacation coure
We were fortunate to book our tee time at a
Very good rate and at a time the when the course was almost empty. 3 hour round almost unheard of at Kirland
