Editor's Note: Course closed in 2018. See The Phoenician Golf Club listing.

The Desert/Oasis Course was the Phoenician's first 18 holes, which were later joined by the Canyon nine. The aptly named course may have desert surroundings but its numerous palm trees and blooming flowers will make golfers feel as though they've been transported to a tropical destination. Although all three golf courses cover only 150 acres, none of them feel cramped. Any lack of length is quickly forgotten after playing the creative challenges of the layout. The golf course offers plenty of variety that make it appealing to low and high handicappers alike. Dramatic elevation changes characterize the Desert nine, providing the breathtaking views that have led it to be the most requested course. The Oasis nine is memorable as well with water coming into play on six holes and a unique moat of sand on the par-4 finishing hole.

Not what I expect for the$$

So the fairways n greens were very nice, however, the front plays along close by roads( lots of noise) close houses/yards with barking dogs and 1,2,8,18 surrounded by construction.

On the back we were told it nature. They were right however the holes run directionally opposite and close, we were hit into from golfers on the different holes coming toward several times by errant shots.

Several sand traps were hard pan almost without sand. Not what I expect from a 4.5 rated course. Pace was slow, I quit after 14- made my way in.

Pelican visit

Great course. Excellent conditions. Fun and challenging but good for the average golfer. Paired up with some slow players. Couldn’t finish 18 holes.

The tale of two 9’s

What a beautiful course and super friendly staff. The front 9 and the back 9 are two totally different courses: front 9 is relatively straight forward, with new construction on the first fairway, it felt a little claustrophobic. But, you quickly settle in and I enjoyed playing the remaining holes on the front. It’s no joke when they tell you everything breaks away from the mountain. Once we hit the back 9, everything changes… very undulating greens, up hill approach shots and stunning valley views from elevated holes. This can’t be overstated, it is literally the best view of the valley. Money and time well spent.

Overpriced

For a course like this, take better care of the greens. A lot of dead areas

The Phoenician is in very good shape. It is challenging with greens that are true to your putts.

The course is good but not great

This course is definitely one of the better ones in Phoenix. Well looked after by maintenance team with no help from players (ball pitch marks). Good course for a ten and up handicap. Not long enough for the low caps. I would definitely play again but only if I find a deal on the cost. No course in the world should be priced at the rate it is. +2 cap golfer comments.

Dave M

Great course, poor practice facilities including hard balls, Great starter and pro shop excellent but too much construction and after service in 19th poor, but food good. The place is becoming a real estate and Europe do this type of facilities better at a much more reasonable rate.
