Editor's Note: Course closed in 2018. See The Phoenician Golf Club listing.

The Desert/Oasis Course was the Phoenician's first 18 holes, which were later joined by the Canyon nine. The aptly named course may have desert surroundings but its numerous palm trees and blooming flowers will make golfers feel as though they've been transported to a tropical destination. Although all three golf courses cover only 150 acres, none of them feel cramped. Any lack of length is quickly forgotten after playing the creative challenges of the layout. The golf course offers plenty of variety that make it appealing to low and high handicappers alike. Dramatic elevation changes characterize the Desert nine, providing the breathtaking views that have led it to be the most requested course. The Oasis nine is memorable as well with water coming into play on six holes and a unique moat of sand on the par-4 finishing hole.

Challenge

We were able to play a bit sooner then our tee time which was helpful in the 100 plus degree weather ..fair was brown n patchy but greens were ok...it was pricey for a 11am tee time...could be better

Too much construction

Apparently, they decided they could make more $ by taking away 1 of the three Nines they used to have and building lots of condos, homes, and suites in its place.

The construction distracted from the play and it is ruining many of the vistas it used to have.

We got to play for a Hot Deal price of about $70 ea but a month ago it was $250 each. I would have been really mad if we had paid the higher price.

great course, slow play!

Three foursomes ahead of us made play dreadfully slow. The folks we could see were pulling the flag on ever green and taking too long to putt! We could not find a marshall to report this to. Told the cart girl. Love your course but you need to keep folks moving better.

nice round

Always enjoy playing at the Phoenician. Greens were in great shape. A little costly for my weekly golf budget, so I only get to play it about once a year.

Wet conditions

There was a lot of dead grass and newly planted grass areas. With that because they watered the gras it was very wet and swampy on multiple holes and not good playing conditions for a 9am tee time.

Fun course!

Thoroughly enjoyed the round, great course conditions, but just the driving range was in poor condition, not much grass to hit from.

A course with 2 very different front and back 9

I very much enjoyed playing the Phoenician. It was a beautiful course with a wide open front nine. The t-blocks were in good shape while the fairways were green there were several areas that were very wet. The back nine is tighter and more scenic as it lays tightly into the hillside. The bunkers were groomed but need more sand. Really the only eye sore was the construction going on around the course. Loved the staff but the course is over priced for the value. I would still say this is a course that is fun and a must play. Maybe wait for the better price deal!
