The Desert/Oasis Course was the Phoenician's first 18 holes, which were later joined by the Canyon nine. The aptly named course may have desert surroundings but its numerous palm trees and blooming flowers will make golfers feel as though they've been transported to a tropical destination. Although all three golf courses cover only 150 acres, none of them feel cramped. Any lack of length is quickly forgotten after playing the creative challenges of the layout. The golf course offers plenty of variety that make it appealing to low and high handicappers alike. Dramatic elevation changes characterize the Desert nine, providing the breathtaking views that have led it to be the most requested course. The Oasis nine is memorable as well with water coming into play on six holes and a unique moat of sand on the par-4 finishing hole.

Nice resort course, but rather short.

Played the Desert/Canyon combo. The first thing you notice as you drive onto the property is the remarkable grounds. It's a nice resort. The course is not long, I was paired with two other singles and they wanted to play from the gold tees. I would have been better off playing the championship tees. Some cool par 3's with big elevation drops. The tee boxes should have been in better shape for the money it cost to play there though. We must have gotten lucky because the pace of play is supposed to be 4.5 hours and we were done in under 4.

Desert/Canyon 12/30/15

I played as a single but was paired up with a 3 some, played only nine holes (Desert) because I had previous dinner plans. Pace of Plays was busy with only a short wait at times. I had a great time and will play this course again, will recommend to friend.

Difficult to play without a member. No yardage markers and restricted cart access on many holes, so gps is useless. Need to play extremely well to enjoy the round.

Loved the Phoeniician

I was as excited as a little kid at Christmas when I was able to book the Phoenician for $57. It is a beautiful course played in the shadow of Camelback Mountain and was in wonderful condition. It has a funky long cart ride past some other tee boxes between the 7th and 8th holes on the Canyon course. I would have gotten lost had not one of the guys I got paired up with known how to get there. Played above average on the Canyon (4 over) and way below average on the Oasis - but that wasn't the courses fault. Just decided to hit four balls out of bounds on one hole.

Deceiving

On a week long golf holiday in Scottsdale, our group of four rate Phoenician at the bottom of the list. We don't understand the good rating of that course on Golf Now. At the arrival the staff greeting was cold and unfriendly, we almost felt we were given orders by them, the quality of the course and the greens was poor for the price, and the rate they wanted to charge for continuing for the third nine was excessive for that course. At about the same price we had a much better experience at Kierland the day before with the staff and far greater course. We didn't feel treated like welcomed guests. The restaurant and the staff there were Ok though.

Great golf at convenient location

Situated right in Scottsdale on the Camelback mountain flank, the Phoenician has three 9s to play. The conditions were superb and the pace of play was fast, even on a Sunday.

I played the Desert and Canyon courses, both had great views on several holes and were fun to play. There were 2 or 3 greens that were a bit damaged, and a few other areas (mostly rough) that were being repaired, but otherwise everything was top notch.

There was a bit of traffic noise on the last 2 Canyon holes; not a lot of water in general, but the last 3 Canyon holes all feature a lot of it, so watch out!

Would definitely play again and try the Oasis course.

GPS in cart is very helpful for distance, but ads on every hole? That has seriously got to go.

Challenging course but service could have been better!

Good round but no info at the time of booking- if its cart path only. Even starter did not do his job properly! Some tee boxes in bad shape and noisy because of traffic on the nearby roads. Greens uneven- not rolled- so unpredictable and "catchy".

No water in ball cleaners

Greens were marked, cart girl on back 9 ran out of coffee and cream and several of the ball cleaners had no water. Fairway were nice and the layout of the course is great.

Outstanding

I hiked Camelback mountain in the morning and came down, showered up, and played the Canyon / Oasis courses. The two courses are completely different experiences. The Canyon course climbs up and down the side of Camelback with awesome views and significant elevation changes. Whereas, the Oasis course plays flat like a resort course you would find in Florida (including lots of palm trees).

It being cart path only on the day I played, the flat Oasis course was a welcomed respite after hiking the mountain in the morning and walking back and forth to the cart on the Canyon course.

Both course are in excellent shape and do a great job of combining desert golf with a resort course feel. I specifically travel to the Phoenix area to play desert target golf style courses. This is not quite a WeKoPa or a Grayhawk in that sense, but the views from the Canyon course, the cacti and fauna, and the quality of the course are enough to make it a great experience. I would definitely play it again!

Car path only

The course is beautiful but they have a car path only policy which in some cases can turn into more walking than if you didn't have a cart. If you have
Any leg problems you should take this into consideration .

Enjoyed the day. Course was well maintained. A couple of water hazards did not appear on cart GPS.. Desert course was more interesting than the Oasis.

HIghly Recommended

I got a great rate because fairway seeding was just completed, and carts were cart path only … which creates a lot of walking. But well worth it to play a course that normally is out of my price range. As expected, this is a top notch course that has held up well over the years. Lots of water, but wide enough fairways. Greens were in good shape and the ball ran true. We moved along well, in spite of the extra walking. I'd play again in a second if a good deal could be found.

Nice Chalenging Course

Very scenic course with long par 3s. Only problem is that the course did not advertise Cart Path Only. I know most all courses are Cart path this time of year an most if not all have CP on the booking on Golf Now. Phoenician did not I booked this round specifically because it did not advertise like others that it was CP. I will come back but was a little ticked when we got to the course.

On my rotation of Scottsdale courses

This was my first experience at the Phoenician and I'll put it on my rotation for Scottsdale courses. We played the Oasis and Desert 9s in exactly 4 hours on a Saturday. It was cart path only (likely due to recent over-seeding), so pace of play was more than acceptable of for a resort course. We paid under $100 for each person and had a cart with GPS and access to the driving range. Water came into play on a number of holes and there was very little desert. Some great views on the desert 9. Overall, a good experience for a good price.
