Editor's Note: Course closed in 2018. See The Phoenician Golf Club listing.

The Desert/Oasis Course was the Phoenician's first 18 holes, which were later joined by the Canyon nine. The aptly named course may have desert surroundings but its numerous palm trees and blooming flowers will make golfers feel as though they've been transported to a tropical destination. Although all three golf courses cover only 150 acres, none of them feel cramped. Any lack of length is quickly forgotten after playing the creative challenges of the layout. The golf course offers plenty of variety that make it appealing to low and high handicappers alike. Dramatic elevation changes characterize the Desert nine, providing the breathtaking views that have led it to be the most requested course. The Oasis nine is memorable as well with water coming into play on six holes and a unique moat of sand on the par-4 finishing hole.

Great course

Besides playing at 110F, the course is amazing. Really had fun playing it. Greens are fast and fairways pretty wide.

HOT AND SLOW

Tee’d off at 12. Been playing rounds all over phoenix last month at 12-1230 because i want cheap rates and everyone plays in 3 hours on 18 almost all the courses in this heat. It’s hot and MOVE. Not here… it’s resort style, people on vacation, being slow. Took 5 hours to play 18. Maybe play later in afternoon when no one is playing? This course can be played in 2.5 hours easily if no one to slow you down.

Signage was excellent

Signage was excellent for first time visitors to the course. Carts were very nice (GPS was very helpful in blind spots). Disappointed though that food/drink was not available at the turn.

Worth It

Course is worth it. Little tricky finding the next holes some times… but other than that… great top to bottom. Saw the cart girl(s) 6 different times… they were super nice and helpful. The guys at the cart barn were super cool and nice. Green were soft and receptive and true rolling. It was 105 out. Hard to find courses with soft greens at the moment.

Well manicured course with very friendly staff. Complimentary bottled water on the course was a nice amenity. Had a great time at the course.

Nice Course

Course was in good condition. Fairways were nice, greens were rolling true. A couple of things though, we repaired about 10 ball marks on every green, and the “premium Callaway rental clubs” were beat up Callaway Rogues. Would play again, but not with their rentals.

Great day at the Phoenician

My group started our golf trip at the Phoenician and it was fantastic. The course is not terribly far from the airport which made it convenient for the first round of golf trip. Course was in good shape, great layout, beautiful views. Greens were decent not great, which would be my only complaint, otherwise it was a fun golf course. The only other minor complaint I have is it felt like the design was really close to the street and driving golf carts through the main road seems a bit unsafe. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

Nice course but experience was below expectations

Our round took 5 1/2 hours and we did not stop at the turn. This was a Saturday and we finished as the sun went down. They had a couple big groups which held up the entire course. And we only saw the drink cart at hole 2 and 9 as she probably stayed with the big groups. And the cart/club guys seemed more interested in the phones than the guests. Maybe I had too high of expectations but when you play at a resort of this caliber the experience should match.

Beautiful course

The course was is great shape and is a beautiful resort course. The only complaint was pace of play and price. After fees the discount on Golf now was really only about $7 per player. I would definitely play it again if the price were lower but at over $200 per round iti is pricey. Staff was very friendly, everything was clean and views were great. Especially on the back nin
