Talking Stick Golf Club - O'odham Course

Fairway was generous and wide. No stressful layout

The only thing that wasn't excellent was they had just recently top dressed the greens. The greens were still smooth and a good speed though.

The maintenance is still making the greens bumpy and roll is unpredictable. The fairways are beautiful. This is my favorite course of the two. I'm sure the greens will improve over time but manage expectations until probably mid to end of September.

This is a fun layout with great practice area. Fairways and tees are perfect. But... the greens just don't roll. They even tolled them the day we played. I wanted to try it again after a few months to see if anything had changed. Unfortunately no. I get this is August in AZ and you need to protect them but they are like Velcro. On the plus side there are no bare spots you will see elsewhere.

Course was average not some thing I would pay a lot for a round it had no water hazards or challenges

We stayed at the Talking Stick resort so I played the North course Sunday and Monday mornings at 06:30. The staff is friendly, the range is nice, with stacks of balls to hit. There is nothing wrong with the course. Being from the midwest, I like to play the desert courses that are target golf, more in the foothills. This is more resort golf, wide fairways, huge greens. I played with one ball for 36 holes. The rate was fair and the pace of play was great! i was paired up with very nice people both days so I had an enjoyable time playing at Talking Stick. The only challenge was the greens have their summer grass so the hold the ball perfectly and are about a 1.5 on the stent meter. We pretty much just smashed the putts, scraped the second one and moved on. I'm sure the greens will be perfect when the weather cools.

Beautiful course in great condition. Usually at this time of the year all of the grass at most courses is yellow and thin with lots of bare spots but this course was 100% Lush grass everywhere while you were on the course. Unfortunately as soon as you get off the course you are in the desert and I spent way too much time out there than on The Fairway. Other than that great day of golfing

I had recently played the south course and wanted to play the north to complete the experience (they have been re named). This is a resort course and plays as such,there are no real surprises or challenges and the fairways are wide enough to land a 737 in. The only challenge is the length and as long as you can hit a driver relatively straight this won't be a problem. That being said the par 3's are also ridiculously long (from the blacks) so maybe this is the entire theme. The staff is friendly and the course well maintained and you can get it for a great value in the summer so I wouldn't say to not play it just don't expect much from it.

Rough conditions, no sand in bunkers.

Grass rough. hit out of fairway, cant find it or cart stops working.

May never play again.

Based on the price and the reviews I read prior to my round I felt the golf course matched my expectations going in. The course was in decent shape and the layout at times somewhat challenging. I think the greens were recently sanded but the speeds were acceptable. They were very hard and it was difficult

to stop a ball. I played TPC Scottsdale the following day and there was slightly more bite to the greens there so I guess you generally have to contend with hard greens when you play in Arizona.Overall Talking Stick offers a fair bang for your buck but I wouldn't rush back to play it again.

Have played Talking Stick since it opened. As usual, all staff members were courteous and helpful. Played North Course. Greens were exceptionally slow. Fairways appear to be still in transition. Pace of play good -- 18 holes in 3:30.

I'm not sure how they did this when they built the course, but I've never played anywhere that the ball rolls out like it does here, fairways & greens, and it's fairly level. Wide landing areas off the tee. There are plenty of bunkers, but most are easily avoided. My only objection was the music/noise/whatever that came pounding through the air from the swimming pool area at the hotel / casino. Way too loud & so I would tell you never to play there on a Saturday.Other than that I would certainly play this again.

I'm glad we got this on a hot deal because the other courses we played during our trip were so much better in maintenance and layout. We were disappointed on the first hole. The greens have sparse grass and don't get better until the last few holes. The last holes of the North course are actually very good.
