Rating 72.7

Hillcrest Golf Club possesses a championship length course that offers a great variety of game options with five sets of tees. The course has a traditional design that features open fairways lined with trees, which put a premium on straight shots. The greens vary greatly with some that are relatively flat and medium sized and others that are quite large and dramatically sloped or multi-tiered. In addition to several sand bunkers, water hazards in the forms of lakes and ponds come into play. The signature hole is the par-5 13th, which has been touted by the Phoenix Gazette as being on of the best holes in the state. Hillcrest Golf Club not only has a dogleg around a lake, the hole requires an approach shot uphill to a green that is guarded by eight bunkers.

Nice Course

This is a nice course to play when you're in the area. The guys were super friendly and informative. Personalized service with a smile. The course was watered pretty hard but it's summer in Phoenix so that's part of the game. I'll go back again.

Nice open, easy going course

Golfed here for the first time. There was a monsoon rain storm the evening before, so a little wet, but expected. Fairways and greens were in nice condition, anything to the side was a little soggy, but if you are playing well that should be a non issue. Staff was friendly and helpful. The cart gentlemen was great, gave me a little history on the course at the end of the round. I played early, so they were still mowing, but I’d suspect if I started later it would have been perfect. Played 18 in about 2 hours, 15 min. I read a lot of people complaining about the conditions, but for $40 or so, I don’t see a lot of room for complaining. Overall I enjoyed my round here and would definitely come back.

Poor condition

I have played this course several times in the past, and each time the conditions get progressively worse. I understand that has been a difficult summer for all of the courses in the valley, but this course is truly struggling from holes throughout the fairways through potholes on the cart paths that are left. This course has a terrific layout, which is the reason I come back season after season, but the conditions are continuing to deteriorate.

HILLVREST FALL FROM GRACE

As short as 5 Seasons ago this challenging but fair course was thrilling to play with rolling green fairways and lush tress.

Fast forward to today the fairways are brown and spotted, the forward tee boxes only have markers without a tee box and a lot trees are dead or dying.

At one time the Senior PGA visited this course now it would embarrassing and torture to hold a company best ball tournament.

I hope this course can return to greatness one day. Today I would stay away.

Dear Guest,

thank you for your comment and we apologize about the tees, we just had to make sure people stay off of them while they heal.

We will hopefully open up the new tee boxes this saturday!

Again thank you for your comment and would like to offer you a special deal for next time.

Shoot me an email for details
