About
Hillcrest Golf Club possesses a championship length course that offers a great variety of game options with five sets of tees. The course has a traditional design that features open fairways lined with trees, which put a premium on straight shots. The greens vary greatly with some that are relatively flat and medium sized and others that are quite large and dramatically sloped or multi-tiered. In addition to several sand bunkers, water hazards in the forms of lakes and ponds come into play. The signature hole is the par-5 13th, which has been touted by the Phoenix Gazette as being on of the best holes in the state. Hillcrest Golf Club not only has a dogleg around a lake, the hole requires an approach shot uphill to a green that is guarded by eight bunkers.

Worth the price.
The weather was unseasonably cold and wet. The course was very wet due to all the rain but it was in fairly good shape. We we able to use the cart when every other course in the area was walking only.
The wind was wicked and therefore, we were bundled up and didn't score well. However, we were happy to have had the opportunity to play that cold windy day!
Hillcrest
This. Course used to be a Sr. Tour and LPGA stop. Thus I love the layout. The course has seen much better days (bunkers are cement) but it is a very enjoyable course for mid handicappers. This year was the best shape I have ever seen the fairways and greens ion (slow though). Also very reasonable cost, $140 for my wife and I plus cart. And bonus, played in 3 hrs!!
Decent fairways and greens
Course was in better shape than when we played here last year… smoother greens and more grass in the fairways. Off the fairways, though, are still in rough shape… the rough is dormant now, but looks better than last year, lots of bare dirt in places. Tee boxes are a mix.. some OK, some pretty beat up.
Pro shop guy and starter were both friendly and welcoming. Pace of 0lay was good, right at 4 hours.
Not so friendly staff.
Loved the course but the pro shop cashier and ranger were not so friendly. Finished round with 4 golfers (2 from the blues) in 4.15hrs and ranger said we were slowing pace and to step it up. Cashier in pro shop was distant, not friendly and didn't seem to care about the golfers.
course was in great condition,layout was not real immaginative, kind of repettitive around the lake, over all enjoyable
Challenging course. Green are well kept and good speed. Rough is not maintained but hitting the ball straight eliminates that issue. Some Very challenging holes especially around the lakes. Definately play it again cause it ate me up the first time!!
Unfortunately the pace of play was slow.
Decent course, could use a little work
Fairways and greens in good shape, greens maybe a little slow. Everything off the fairways is mud and dirt — pretty rough. Cart paths are TERRIBLE. Hard to get into much trouble, easy enough course to score well.
All staff we had contact with were friendly. Were paired up with two guys who never shut their mouths (mostly to each other, rarely to us) so that got tedious.
Hillcrest Round
I was out of town staying in Surprise and was looking for a well-maintained golf course, close by. It was the most reasonable of the 3 other rounds I played. The fairways were in good shape and the greens were outstanding. I will definitely be back for a round when back in AZ.
