Hillcrest Golf Club at Sun City West

I had to give this course another try for the money. The layout is unlike anything else you will find in the price range. I prefer this courses to some resort courses in Scottsdale. I like the greens as well. The pins can be very challenging depending on placement. I wish they had the GPS monitors on the carts but I understand that this is old school golf club. The course layout maps are hard to come by as well. You need course knowledge because some of the holes are hidden as far as turns and directions. You need to know how far you can hit on some par 4s and you need to know what is over the hill on some par 3s. The water comes into play a few times as well. The tips aren't marked even though it is on the scorecard, but the Blue tees will give you all you want the first time you play it. Good luck with club selection off the tee.

Slow play after 1.00 5 hour round. Otherwise great time

Haven’t played this course for at least 7 years. Last time I played it was in a terrible condition, so I didn’t come back. Several people told me that it’s been improved a lot, so I took a chance. The tees, fairways and greens are in great condition but the rest of the golf course is absolutely run down and hasn’t been taken care of at all. There is no rough to speak of, mostly packed dirt. Some sand traps have decent sand in them, some don’t. This course needs a major overhaul of everything except the fairways and greens. Won’t be playing here again.

The greens and fairways are in much better shape than they were in previous years, especially considering the record temperature summer we had. The only complaints I have are rough cart paths and unacceptable ball cleaning stations.

First time playing Hillcrest this year. Fairways were in very nice condition, greens rolled true with a few exceptions but the off fairways areas are very rough. Layout of this course is super nice and the value through Golf Now was solid. Will definitely be back.

Course is in nice shape. Pace of play was extremely slow off the tee box and for quite a few holes. Did pick up a little on the back 9 but only got 16 holes in before having to have the carts back. It is a fun course to play when not backed up off the tee box.

There were 5 groups all jammed up on the 2nd hole. No ranger! The starter did his job of getting everybody off on #1, but no one paid any attention to the jam up on #2. Took almost 3 hrs to play 9 holes. I quit after 9.

Great layout, but course needs work. Fairways and greens were good. Frings of green and anything slightly off the fairway are in dis-repair. Challenging course that I would play again for the right price.

The course was in winter condition. Good value for the money. Greens were all in excellent shape as were the fairways. Does need some upkeep on ball washers on the tee box.

One of my favorite layouts in the NW valley, great fairways and greens, traps and ‘rough’ leave a lot to be desired, but worth time to play it (be prepared though, can be a slow).

Nice layout. Forgiving fairways, greens are in good shape, staff was friendly.
