About
Hillcrest Golf Club possesses a championship length course that offers a great variety of game options with five sets of tees. The course has a traditional design that features open fairways lined with trees, which put a premium on straight shots. The greens vary greatly with some that are relatively flat and medium sized and others that are quite large and dramatically sloped or multi-tiered. In addition to several sand bunkers, water hazards in the forms of lakes and ponds come into play. The signature hole is the par-5 13th, which has been touted by the Phoenix Gazette as being on of the best holes in the state. Hillcrest Golf Club not only has a dogleg around a lake, the hole requires an approach shot uphill to a green that is guarded by eight bunkers.

Slow play
They had Rangers on the course but they weren't moving people along couple of holes there were three foursomes backed up at one time I only played 12 holes and then left because it was too slow
Fun course with great staff
The course was wet but in great shape. The rain obviously isn't the course's fault.
Fun layout overall with some challenging and easy holes.
The sand traps were awful but that is pretty standard in arizona.
Pro shop was basic and the range was weird with thin matts down on grass. Chipping and putting area is nice.
I would recommend as a good $25-$45 option.
You get what you pay for
Really long course. Fairways in decent shape. Great fun course to play for cheap! Try to stay on the fairways there is some dirt on the outsides. Would play again
Good deal
With snowbirds having left area course was almost empty so our twosome played in some 3 to 31/2 hours. Fairways and greens are in Ok shape especially considering price to play.
Difficult course
Lots of bunkers and intermediate golfers may have a challenge.
good value with Hot Deal
The course was in reasonable condition and the greens were rolling true. Pace of play was good with no real complaints with minor wait times on some holes.
Good value steady improvmwnt of course
I have been playing Hillcrest for 5+ years. It was the first course I played when I moved to Arizona in 2019. It has always be in average shape. It has been let go to the point I stopped playing for about 18 months but heard they were improving conditions so I came back to play again. I love the layout of the course and how close it is to where I live so started coming back to play. The playing conditions have improved tremendously in the last 6 months and will continue to keep it as a part of my regular rotation of courses I play. The greens are in very good shape. They still need to work on improving the fairways. If you hit off of fairway you will find lots of dirt which needs to be improved. Overall this is a great value and a good course, I would highly recommend if you are looking for a fun day and not trying to spend a lot money to golf.
Tests all your shots
The group I was paired with was a no show. Went out as single. Paired up on 3rd hole with 2 some. The group ahead of them dropped out on 10 and we paired up with single left. Management worked to keep groups playing quickly.and no gaps. Greens were rough grainy grass. No putts rolling smoothly.
