Hillcrest Golf Club at Sun City West

Enjoyed my round at Hillcrest, great pace of play and good conditions.

Been golfing here for 4 plus years and Friday was the only terrible experience I’ve had and I’ll never go back. Very rude lady checking in, absolutely horrible and unprofessional starter and was constantly bugged by marshal while the entire course was backed up. Driving range all fully grown in new grads but was forced to hit off astro turf on uphill angle for $84. Never once in 4 years have I ever had an encounter with any of the 3 unprofessional employees and I will never return.

For the price, can’t be beat! Course was in solid shape. Tee boxes were solid, greens were fair, fairways were lush. No beverage cart or ice in the cooler, but besides that pretty solid day. With Scottsdale and Phoenix courses charging hundreds, this is a great option for the price.

The Course was in very good shape including the greens. Pace of play was not a problem. Enjoyed the round.

My “new” favorite Phoenix course. Most of the Sun City courses I have played in Peoria have been short enough that I could reach the greens in regulation from the tips. I am glad I teed off from the whites on this course because The blues would have been outside my class. I loved everything about this course. The scenery, the layout,the elevation changes, the conditions, you name it. I did not try the bar or the food, but I came to play golf.

I’ve been playing this course intermittently over the past three decades. The fairways were in some of the best condition ever, primarily due to the heavy rainfall this year. The greens were also in good shape. Most golf courses in Arizona have benefited from the winter rains. However, the problem lies outside the fairways, sand traps, and tee boxes. The excessive dirt areas, rocky sand traps, and divoted tee boxes require attention. Maintenance is the issue. It seems they’ve been spending money recklessly at the course for years, reinvesting only to improve the appearance. It’s disheartening to witness. Additionally, there’s no beverage cart on the course during play.

Been playing the course for years. Overall, the general condition is very good, but there were a lot of broken water pipes making a fair amount of the course drenched in water and muddy.

beautiful day, paired up with 3 other great guys. first time playing hillcrest-tee boxes, fairways and greens were really decent. many of the fairways and areas around the greens were pure dirt. need to shut down and churn up bare dirt areas, re-seed and re-establish designated cart paths as i believe it is the errant carts that beat up the areas aforementioned. yes, easy for me to say, but...a nice challenging course that was 3/4's there but a very important 1/4 made a lot of difference. go play it so they hopefully spend the extra money on those improvements and it could become a hidden gem
