About
Hillcrest Golf Club possesses a championship length course that offers a great variety of game options with five sets of tees. The course has a traditional design that features open fairways lined with trees, which put a premium on straight shots. The greens vary greatly with some that are relatively flat and medium sized and others that are quite large and dramatically sloped or multi-tiered. In addition to several sand bunkers, water hazards in the forms of lakes and ponds come into play. The signature hole is the par-5 13th, which has been touted by the Phoenix Gazette as being on of the best holes in the state. Hillcrest Golf Club not only has a dogleg around a lake, the hole requires an approach shot uphill to a green that is guarded by eight bunkers.

Hillcrest
The course itself needs work. There are no cart paths to speak of except around the greens and tee boxes. There are a lot of bare patches in the fairways and there is no rough as it is mostly hard rocky dirt. Th course should be shut down for a month or more to actually fill in the pathways, overseed and sod the fairways, and clean up the bunkers. It is an ok course, but should and could be so much better as it has a lot to offer.
Fun Layout, Quick Pace, Meh Condition
Have played this course a number of times. Enjoy the layout and pace of play. Went out early and finished the full 18 in about 3 hours.
Like many of the Sun City courses the conditions are hit or miss. Greens were in good shape and nicely cut. Fairways and rough were a bit spotty with some areas of standing water or mud. Avoid the bunkers if at all possible. Most are crusty with lots of rocks in them. Unless you are playing in a tournament or for money it isn’t worth damaging the face of your wedge to try and hit out of them.
Good value but the carts could use an upgrade and/or deep cleaning. Mine came fully equipped with used cigarette butts.
Hillcrest is definitely a value. The fairways and greens and all in really good shape. The majority of tee boxes are as well, just a couple that are slightly mounded. The “rough” is desert rough. If you are a player that ends up not in the fairway often, you’ll hate it. If you’re a fairways and greens player, hard to beat the price!! They’re definitely trying to keep the actual playing parts nice. The rough is rough, we shouldn’t be in it that often lol
looking better
This is the best Hillcrest has looked in the 8 years I have played there. Tees, fairways, and greens are very good. Still too many bare spots around the greens though. Several leaks in their irrigation. They have for the first time ladies tees moved up that don’t measure 5400 yards. That makes it more enjoyable for my wife. We will play Hillcrest more often now.
Great course
I love playing this course but the traps are just packed sand. Friendly staff good pa eof play and great layout.
Great value
Hill Crest for the value is a good track to play,
We played early so fairways were wet, but to be expected this time of year. I do wish they would fix some of the cart paths, to bumpy.
Desert Rose
Sure would have been nice to have a beverage cart girl out on the course when the temperature gets to the triple digits on the day we played....

Course was good, the greens a little patchy, keep the ball in the fairway and all was good.

The course was in good condition. Had a great day with friends. Definitely will be back to play again.
Course in bad shape
Have played here many times, course layout is great, but conditions are not good, dry spot and some how huge puddles from bad Irrigation. Will not be playing here again can play much nicer places for the same price
