Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills
About
The executive-length Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills (formerly known as Rolling Hills Golf Course) provides an excellent game and it is a very player-friendly course. True to its name, the course is quite hilly causing a few elevation changes and undulating greens. The fairways are lined with pretty trees, adding some challenge and beauty to the course. There are no water hazards but there are a few strategically placed bunkers to worry about as well as some out-of-bounds stakes bordering a few of the holes. Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills consists of ten par 3s and eight par 4s. On the premises there are also practice facilities, a pro shop, and an on-site golf pro.

Fun and fast
Needs some more grass but you can tell they care about the place. Fun track great price
No Longer Worth the Price
Many of the holes have been shortened which slows the pace of play. Few trees left on the course and lots of dead bushes has made this once fun course a mess to play. Although most of the tee boxes are in good shape the fairways are spotty. Greens are very firm, cut way to low and are not able to hold an approach shot. Holes 10-18 are more interesting that the short "Kids-type" course that is now the first 9 holes. Food is standard fare, reasonably priced and is OK. Folks have said the outside bar along the putting green is an unnecessary nuisance and now I see why. This used to be a good place to play but not worth the price now. Other places in better condition for the same price or less are Starfire, Continental or Kokopelli.
Good experience
My friend and I decided to try out this course and it did not disappoint. Lot of par 3 but fun to play. The course challenges your short game. Highly recommend and will back again to play.
Good Course But In Poor Condition = Over-Priced
Fairways were brown and burned in some areas and the greens were cut super short and were extremely dry for this time of year. Tee boxes were OK. Seems like the owners have put more emphasis on the outside bar than the golf course. It is only May and about 30% of the place is parched. Not a good sign and not a good value for the $40 that is charged.
Mediocre, not a great value.
My nephew from Vegas wantd to play and hit balls. We hit the driving range for an hour prior. We were a little surprised at the quality of the balls. A little beat up, the turf was torn and worn out in our bay. Not the best value, compared to other options near by. Also, I'd love it if the club house offered a fridge to grab a couple cold ones prior to loading up. I had to go to the bar, wait for a tender, slide the dog gone card....I was surprised that they only accept credit cards. That tells me they are okay with charging us an additional 3%. I hate when businesses remove my ability to pay with cash. Let me decide whether I use cc or cash.
For this reason, I will not be going back.
Fun Course
Very unique course with driving range, put/chipping spot, outside bar, live music, and a restaurant next to the PHX Zoo. I scored "Good" and not excellent for course conditions only due to some construction/prepping for a golf tournament in the beginning of May. Otherwise, great overall course and will be back, especially for night golf!
Hideous
Used to play here every week until they completely revamped the course .. grass fairways completely dug up and replaced with dirt, pebbles and stones .. huge rocks lining holes; dangerous and ugly .. worst of all .. they spray that toxic green material everywhere leaving our tennis shoes green, stained and a total mess .. our balls were covered in sticky green gunk .. I could taste the toxic fumes in my lungs .. absolutely not worth playing for any amount of money .. oh, and huge ugly piles of excavated dirt .. thank goodness we only paid $30 pp and even that was too much for such a dismal experience .. never, ever again !!!
Grassy
Very friendly staff. Good pace of play. Fun course, will come back.
One for the books
Overall great experience. For me it was challenging, but their driving range is amazing to get dialed in.
Fun course, well kept and great layout
The course is well maintained.Rolling greens, elevated tee boxes and greens.
Gear course for working on your irons.
I will definitely play here again, and will try the nighttime play soon.
Fun executive course with great amenities
The front nine was less interesting than the back. The course appears to be under renovations. Most of the first nine holes we were hitting off of mats. However, the greens were in good condition. The outdoor bar and restaurant are fabulous which made for a fun afternoon. We will definitely be back.
Not what we expected
So many beginners which is fine but they need golf etiquette. Fathet and son in front of us would not 4 balls off the tee.
Cart girl did not come by us even though she saw us wave her over. We were told her cart was running out of juice but she drove further from club house and she could have stopped and we walk to her
Fine at best
I had a mid morning sunday round. Staff was friendly, but not helpful. Clubhouse staff just said "you paid, have fun". How about cart info, range info, where to go....? Someone outside eventually said "just throw the bag on any cart". So I did, then began diving to the range, only to be told carts won't fit down there, bring the clubs you need. I wouldn't have loaded the bag then... Again, some info earlier on could have prevented this. Oh, and range is limited to 200 yards.
The round took 4 hours, waiting on most shots. Tee boxes are hacked up and not level. Water in most of the cups. No ball washers anywhere, so take advantage of the wet cups to wash your balls. The beverage girl was nice, and the newly opened restaurant was the highlight of the day. Food and drink was fantastic.
I will be back for the restaurant, but you could have a much better golf experience at so many other places. For a fraction of the price I would maybe be back, but I deeply regret not spending a few bucks more, driving further and playing a premier course. Seems the sole draw of this place is the central location, and the night golf.
