Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills
About
The executive-length Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills (formerly known as Rolling Hills Golf Course) provides an excellent game and it is a very player-friendly course. True to its name, the course is quite hilly causing a few elevation changes and undulating greens. The fairways are lined with pretty trees, adding some challenge and beauty to the course. There are no water hazards but there are a few strategically placed bunkers to worry about as well as some out-of-bounds stakes bordering a few of the holes. Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills consists of ten par 3s and eight par 4s. On the premises there are also practice facilities, a pro shop, and an on-site golf pro.

Great time!
Course is in great shape. Had a blast. Greens were touch on the front but settled a bit on the back. Go, you’ll have fun!
Could be a great course. Large groups seemingly encouraged.
I’ve played this course about 10 times since they have reopened. I like the routing of the holes. The greens are generally in good shape, but require a watchful eye. They’re quick with obvious (and subtle) breaks. Here is the biggest problem that I have with the course. They allow, even seem to encourage large groups playing together. Starting today on the 10th, my 4-some had 6 golfers in front of us. I asked after they tee’d off if they were playing as a 3/3. They told me no, they were playing all together and would be playing a scramble. Off they went. We played the hole, and then 2 more golfers, each itch their own golf cart showed up and joined. Now, it was an 8-some. We spoke to the 2-some behind us and they were a bit irritated, but accepted they were in for a long round. 3 holes later, they had enough and one of them decided that he was going to talk to them. Voices were raised, angry words spoken and the fun day of golf was over.
Inwalked in, informed the folks in the pro shop that they had an 8-some on the course and they told me that they allowed large groups on the course as long as they kept the pace. They also noted that they were 5 minutes behind. The person I spoke to in the pro shop was unapologetic, absolutely not interested in the etiquette of golf and wasn’t going to try to break the group up. He did offer me a rain check, but I refused.
Joined friends for 18 and cold refreshments afterwards. The course has potential for much more. Hoping the new owners see the potential it can offer.
Challenging Executive Course
Elevated greens made this short course challenging. The greens were fast and fair.
Since when did groups of 5 or 6 become allowed on a golf course
A generally pleasant day on a muni was ruined when we caught up with a group of 5. Sitting on the tee for 10-15 mins waiting is not right. I gave up.
I complained at the shop where I was told they accept groups of 5 &6
But the greens and fairways were good but just dirt and rocks if you stray off line.
There were also a couple of close shaves with ball flying over us from other holes.
Cost reflects all this of course but I wouldn't go back.
Haven't played here since it became grass clippings because of bad reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Greens and fairways were in good shape and the one bunker I was in had sand. Pace for an exec was a tad slow but I would play again for the right price(under$50).
Staff were all great
Night Irons
Absolutely loved this par 3 course. Its nice to be able to get out there late at night and get a quick 9. The course was great for the conditions. Was a bit cold but with a couple biers it started to warm up. I really enjoyed the distances and having to hit multiple different irons and wedges off the tee. Greens were great as well. Had great speed to them, a little bumpy but it was so cold you couldn't fix any divots.
Fun & challenging short course
I've played this course twice so far and find it challenging but fair. Pace of play has been good both times and the daytime greens fee has been good. I recommend this executive course for its challenge and value.
